Tell me about Dr.Bronners soap

I came across a bottle of it at target and I was a little sticker shocked at the price(it was a big bottle though). Is it really a good product and does it last a long time? It's SLS free, right?
you can get it a lot cheaper on a frontier coop here at MDC and it is all sls free expect for the sal's suds which is a hard surface cleaner. From all that I've read the consensus is it's a great soup, but can be a bit drying at full strength for some. I'm look forward to trying the new line of hand and body soups which are supposed to be less drying. You should check out website for the product, there is a lot of good information on there.

Dr. Bronners is great. I use it in my kids' bath, in my shower (as a body wash), in the laundry, to hand wash my knitted wools, for cleaning surfaces, washing hands...there are so many uses for it and it works great. I get mine throught frontier.

My hubby likes it to sharpen knives with.

I get a big bottle from Frontier and dilute it into a smaller bottle, about 5 parts water to 1 part soap. It works great in the foaming hand soap dispensers like that too. I mostly use it in the shower but when we go camping I use it for dishes too. I just get the plain kind and add my own essential oils if I want them.

I noticed that Target has travel size bottles of Dr. B's. I was thinking about buying one of those just to see if I like it.

You have to dilute it. Then the price is not an issue. It is great stuff!

There's a wee bit of kookiness on the bottle and website

Otherwise, I use it to make hand soap, reusable diaper wipe solution (little washcloths and a squirt bottle of solution), and I've used it in laundry, too.

I love Dr. Bronner's! It really goes a long way: In the shower, I shake just a few drops onto my wet hands, and that makes enough lather to wash my arms, armpits, chest, and tummy, for example.

Mixed with baking soda and a little water, it makes a great facial scrub.

I love, love, love Dr. Bronner's. I love it so much we just bought a 1 gallon jug of the Baby Mild from Frontier (just because dh and I couldn't agree on a "scent"). We use that for showering - bodies and hair. I also bought the conditioning rinse and the leave-in conditioner. Love, love, love those!

The Dr Bronner's and Sun Dog's lip balm is the only one that I don't react to so we get the peppermint.

I just bought the Sal's Suds and now use it to clean my house from top to bottom. It's so nice to use a dish soap that actually works - it gets my ceramic cook top stove clean!! The one and only one that does without major streaking! I really can't go on enough about Sal's Suds. Since it has SLS I just wear my rubber gloves when putting my hands in it, but that's probably a better idea for me anyway since even with the mildest of cleaners it dries my hands out.

I've read you can even use it to brush your teeth (the regular castille that is, not the Sal's Suds), but I haven't really gotten used to that.

I love the fact that they are upfront about their ingredients and the processes used to make them - especially after the whole 1,4-dioxane debaucle. I also really appreciate how they treat their employees (capped executive salaries at a 5 to 1 between the highest paid employee and the lowest paid one, good health benefits, and profit sharing).

lol...I really do Dr. Bronner's!

We found it to be fairly drying, however I still use it as our hand wash in a foam dispenser and just stage a hand lotion pump right next to it. Got that tip right here from an MDC Mama

I love the Sal's Suds too!! Dh had a royal fit when I tried cleaning with vinegar since he has a very sensitive nose and said it made the whole house reek The SS was our compromise and I love it. I use it for everything and haven't been disappointed yet.

Yes, but the kookiness makes for great bathtub reading! I vaguely recall that they used to list birth control as one of the many uses for Dr. B's, but I don't see it on the bottle anymore...possibly that was taking it a bit too far?

Also, a lot of the ingredients are now fair trade.

It does have myriad uses? But I'll pass on using it for *that*

Another Dr. Bronner's fan here! I fill our hand soap dispensers with a diluted version. I also use it for:

camping dishes
bathing/washing in rivers, streams, etc.
washing the dog
delicate laundry
lambswool baby fleece laundering
showering and shampooing while camping/in emergencies if out of usual stuff
household cleaning
washing my kitchen floor tiles
washing the car

And a whole lot more.

It's economical because it goes really far when you dilute it.

Almond is my favorite scent.

I, too, remember the BC reference on the label when I first started buying it in the late 1980's. I was always curious as to how it was supposed to work, and I'm also thankful that I never decided to try it!!

I finally went out and got my first bottle of Dr. Bronner's after reading about it on MDC time after time. I bought the 18-in-1 Hemp Rose Pure-Castile Soap. Now, I've tried to read the label for directions, uses, dilutions, etc but it's so packed with nonsense (seriously, what the heck is ON that bottle?) that I couldn't find good info.

Could someone please tell me exactly what they use it on, the dilutions they use, etc.

Like, can I use it on our bodies and hair in the shower? If so, full strength? Diluted? How much?

Can I use it to clean? If so, what (windows, floors, appliances, tile)? How diluted?

Thanks so much!

SAHDS maybe this will help:

If you look, there is a FAQ re: uses and dilutions

I squirt a few seconds' worth in the mop bucket to clean my floors. It will do an ok job cleaning the tub, too. I just put a little in the tub with some water and scrub. I love to take a bath in the lavender Dr. B's.
