Midwife in Albuquerque?

I am a doula in NY and met a pregnant woman here moving to Albuquerque. I told her I'd look into finding some good midwife options there.

I've looked online and at an older post on MDC, and thankfully there are loads of options! While that's a good problem to have, I have no way of knowing which midwives are best.

The mom's situation is a bit unique. She's preg. with her 4th and with all 3 prior she ended up with pre-eclampsia/MTLP. Her pre-eclampsia started at 20 weeks with the last. She said she wanted to work with a midwife with the previous three but her OB/GYN wouldn't let her because she was high risk. *Sigh* She did have them vaginally, though. She said she'd love a homebirth but doesn't really think it's an option for her.

Thankfully, she's not due til January, so she has time to build a rapport with a midwife AND for that midwife to help her work on possible ways to prevent MTLP.

Could anyone in Albuquerque help me narrow down to a few good hospital-based midwives and a few good homebirth midwives to offer her that would work with someone with her history at home?

Thanks!

Try posting in the NM tribal area. You may find more local mamas with knowledge of whom to trust in the way of practitioners...it could at least give you a place to start.
