Our birth tub rental was delivered today. We are probably going to fill it and leave it filled for a week or so (I am at 37 1/2 weeks, expecting baby #2). The woman who rents them uses Bromine to keep the water clean. She recommends that I put 1/4 teaspoon in after every use. Or, if I don't use it but just leave it filled with water that I use the Bromine every few days. Has anyone else used Bromine in their birth tubs? I need to keep the water in the tub because I will most likely be filling it from an outside tap which will only give me cold water. The heater on the tub will take ~ 24 hours to heat that water. It makes sense for me to fill it once and keep the water at the proper temperature then to try and fill/heat once labor begins (I am hoping I don't have 24 hours of labor
) I am just not too keen on the idea of the chemicals being in the water but I understand the issue of water left standing or water that has been 'used'.

Our midwife suggested peroxide but only if it had been sitting for more than 2 weeks. I don't remember the amount though, but it wasn't very much.
