My mom just gave me a big jar of pure Coconut oil that someone gave her..we have no idea how to use it..I'm interested in all ways of using this. It says on the jar to cook with it or use it like butter..can't I use it as lotion also?? What are some of your favorite uses?

My number one use for CO is a substitute for shaving gel. Plus no need for a moisturizer afterwards.

I use it as a deodorant - mixed with baking soda.

I will also take it and massage my face with it while in the tub. ]

TINY bit rubbed into the ends of my hair to condition it...a lil goes a loooong way!

So I keep some in the bathroom and the rest in the fridge. It melts at a rather low temp and I found if I keep the whole jar in the bathroom, it'll go funky midway thru. Useable...just not pleasant to smell lol

I've never used it to cook with btw! So can't offer anything there.

I fry my eggs in it.

I use it in cooking whenever oil is called for.

I put it in my smoothies.

I use it as a lotion, and I have used it on the baby's bottom.

It is great to put on your feet at night with a pair of socks before you go to bed.

I use it to shave with too. It is WONDERFUL!

I also mix it with my shea butter and use as a general lotion.

I love CO!!

I am dairy free so I do use it in place of butter. It's very yummy.

And it's a wonderful moisturizer. I make a sugar scrub with mine----heat it up and add it to white sugar and use it to clean and moisturize any rough areas when I'm in the shower. It's especially lovely on elbows, knees, heels and balls of the feet.

I love my coconut oil! I just had some in my oatmeal this morning. I use it in place of butter for most everything. I'm going to try some in smoothies. At some point today I'm going to use a bit on DS's face because he has the craziest dry patch on his forhead.

it's really good to use in place of all oils for cooking w/ high heat . i also use it plain as a deodorant. ds and i get mild dry patches/eczema and the co clears it up right away!

ds also has a natural 'hawk so i'll also use the co to smooth that down sometimes!

This is something I have been thinking of trying. Sounds like good stuff and has a lot of uses.

It's a great way to condition your hair/scalp. Put it on and let it soak for several hours, and shampoo out. My Indian IL's do this with their hair.

If you need more you can find it at the Indian food mart.

I mix it with crunchy peanut butter and stevia and turn it into "candy" since I can't have candy

Also good over popcorn w/ salt imho

Oh, there's so many uses!

It's great in the bedroom, IYKWIM.

I LOVE LOVE it in my hair as a hair gel alternative. It's great for skin care.

The list goes on, but those are my favorite uses.

Oh, it is so good with scrambled eggs. They have the best flavor and texture ever.

I love coconut oil, it has so many wonderful uses.

I replace butter, oil, and crisco in recipies because it adds such a wonderful flavor (just experiment with it). I love using it in cookies, cakes, when I stirfry, cook eggs, fry chicken, etc. . .

I use it all over my body after every shower or bath. It keeps my skin wonderfully soft. I also put it on my face everynight before bed.

I've heard it's great as a lube in the bedroom, but I haven't tried this yet.

You can mix it with baking soda and put it under your arms as deodorant.

If you drink smoothies, you can put a T in them.

I love my coconut oil.....

I slather it all in my hair and wear a shower cap to bed and wash
out in the morning. It is an awesome conditioner. It makes your hair
soooooo soft.

I put it on my feet and wear socks to bed.

I use it for lotion.

I use it as a facial moisturizer.

Also good for using under the eyes as an eye cream.

I use it on my 1 year old for dry skin.

Also have used a spoonful of it in smoothies.
