I absolutely LOVE older country and bluegrass music. I espeically like Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck, Patsy Cline for country, and Rhonda Vincent, Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, and The Isaacs for bluegrass music.

What music do you like and who are your favorite singers?

I love most kinds of music and at any given time might be obsessed with one artist or another. Right now, I'm on a bluegrass kick (I was raised on country and bluegrass music).

bluegrassgirl-Have you ever heard of The Lovell Sisters? They are 3 young girls (21, 18 and 16) from Calhoun, Georgia. I live on the Georgia border and caught them on Georgia Public Telelvision a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed with them....I downloaded one of their cds from iTunes and ordered another from their website. I've had them in my cd player ever since.
Anyway, when I saw this thread and that you like bluegrass, I thought of them. They have some videos on you tube, if you'd like to check them out.

Some other faves of mine from that genre:
Merle Haggard
Johnny Cash
Willie Nelson (his daughter also has a cd out with Arlo Guthrie's daughter....they're called FOLK UKE)
Louvin Brothers
Dwight Yoakam
Buck Owens
Alison Krauss & Union Station

Outside that genre:
Ben Harper
G. Love
Jack Johnson
Dave Matthews
White Stripes
Keller Williams
John Butler Trio

Okay....I'll stop now before this gets too long.......

Jerry's music.

'K, I'll take Bob's and Phil's, and Mickey can just blow me away. And the party can't start without Billy. But without Jerry ... it's all just ... music.

Sigh.

And all the various other musics that go along with Deadness. IYKWIM.

I love whatever moves me at the moment. Yeah, I've fixated on certain bands over the years and chased them around the country and whatnot, but there is this beautiful "THING" about music, so beautiful and singular and powerful that it must be in caps and quotes. Music is sometimes a whole body or outer body experience. Sometimes you really experience music, and then it doesn't matter what genre b/c it transcends words and length boundaries and it causes emotions to be brought to the forefront.

So all that said, I like anything that moves me, whether it be physical or emotional. I like all genres. I like old school rap b/c it cracks me up, I like new hip hop b/c I can shake my booty, I like the dead b/c I can just zone out and get lost in the music, I like phish b/c it is goofy and irreverant and jammy, I like 70's rock b/c I like a lot of guitar and drums. I do very much enjoy some good jazz or oldies-from those, I to this day learn from. I like some metal. I like some hard core. I just like about all of it. Actually, I don't like that cookie monster death metal. I never got into that.
