Nursing in the movie theatre - Page 2

So was the movie not good enough to hold the guy's attention? DH is wanting to go see it (I want to re-read the book again first), but I don't want to pay $16 JUST for tickets if it's so bad that a guy who paid full price would rather look at a boob. (We can do that at home for free)

My DD also has very sensitive ears, and used to complain about movies being too loud. But lately, she's started choosing to sit in the very back row, and it seems much less noisy there. Just something to consider, if you really want to go to movies.

LOL! It was excellent, but some people are easily distracted, I would say. :P

RE: the noise.

I often sat there with my hands over the baby's ears, for most of the movie, or at least the really loud parts. I figured my hands would dampen the sound enough so it wouldn't scare her or hurt her eardrums.

I just got the funniest image in my head -- an usher making you remove your breasts b/c outside "drinks" weren't allowed in the theater.

Haha that just produced another image -- mothers with infants lined up at the concession counter to get drinks for their babies -- with a line of women behind the counter hooked up to pumps. ER, strike that image. That would weird me out (someone else's milk? EW, NO) .. plus that means bottles. But it's still funny to think about. "No, I won't be having Pepsi today. I'd like a glass of breastmilk"

I think I need some sleep

Good for you. I tried to bring my LO to the theatre, but GEEZ, it was too loud for ME!

Oh yeah, we take the kids to movies, and of course nurse there, all the time. Narnia was awesome, BTW! Indy was so-so IMO. Liked the first half or so, was disappointed in the rest.

I do worry a little about the noise level, but we try to pick seats that are not right under the speakers, etc.

Just wanted to mention - I was looking into buying theatre tickets online and noticed our theatres have "Stars and Strollers" showings.

http://www.cineplex.com/Theatres/StarsAndStrollers.aspx

(bolding mine)
Enjoy the latest movies in a Baby-Friendly environment at Cineplex Entertainment theatres

Now featuring a choice of two movies at every screening!
*Film options may be reduced to one per week during summer months and holidays
Screenings of the latest releases every week at your participating theatre
Lowered volume levels
Dimmed lighting
Stroller Parking Available

I'd never heard of this, but it sounds like a great idea for moms with young babes or toddlers - except that it's middle of the day on a weekday so it wouldn't work for a date night/whole family outing. Maybe theatres in other areas have these showings too (or would be open to the suggestion)?

Last moth they did a Family night Stars and Strollers it was 7pm on a Wednesday DH, DS and I went, it was Leatherheads. They said they would be doing more evening showings, I hope they do. DS and I go to Stars and Strollers and Movies for Mommies all the time.

As for the noise in a regular showing If it is a loud action type movie, I wear DS in a Ring sling and then I put folded pre fold diapers around his head over his ears DS usually sleeps threw the whole movie!

Yes I agree that Narnia was excellent!!
