Sunburn!

Well, either my pregnancy has nullified sunblock's ability to work or I burned right through it today. Any natural remedies for sunblock other than aloe gel?

I'm probably too late, not sure if this works the next day, but maybe? I've found that vinegar is a miracle for sunburn... every time I get a sunburn now I just soak a rag with vinegar and then gently pat the sunburned areas and the sunburn is gone the next day... no peeling or days of pain like I always used to get.

:

I second the use of vinegar! You'll smell like a salad but it works
Also, aloe vera...either straight from the plant or the gel.

Too bad this didn't come up late last week. My mom and I got sunburned at the beach while vacationing in Florida. We applied 98% pure aloe, but it still hurt the 3rd night to have clothing touch it. Calundula cream worked pretty well too.

my mom always used to put a soured (curdled) milk or thick yoghurt compress on us. I remember it being lovely and very soothing and COOL. It always turned into cottage cheese with the heat of the burned skin.

Clay/healing earth helps us for both sun protection and also hubby in the worst case scenario.

Emu oil will help the skin heal from the burn.

So I got very sunburned over the weekend too and am looking for something. Are we talking regular white vinegar?

Yes, what kind of vinegar is best?
That's something I really would like to try.

Try aloe - either gel or straight from the plant. Also, yougurt smoothed on will help take the heat out. Mashed strawberries. Witch Hazel, AC vinegar, black tea are also good to help take heat out.

shea butter is great for sunburn! I've also used it when I burned my finger badly on the oven. It healed in such a short time.

i am a redhead so i get burned every year. a couple of years ago i got a sunburn so bad i looked like a lobster. i couldnt stand to have anythin touching me. i slept on my stomach (painfully) and had to take tylenol to sleep. My grandmother (i lived with her at the time) told me to put wdv in the bath. she put in a cup in a room temp bath and i soaked for a half hour. i didnt hurt again until i dried off. it helped to spray myself with a spray bottle filled with 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water.
