TCS v. CL

Can someone give me an explanation regarding the difference between Taking Children Seriously and Consensual Living? The two approaches seem so similar to me, and I'm having trouble distinguishing between them.

I did see on Wikipedia that CL exhibits a "preference for moral relativism," but I'm not sure I'd describe TCS as a morally objectivist or absolutist philosophy.

What am I missing?

The way I've had it explained to me (in extremely simplified terms) is that TCS is about not using coersion on children (but doesn't address how to deal with other adults), and CL is about finding consensus among everyone.

That confuses me, because doesn't TCS place a lot of emphasis on finding a "common preference" (their language)? I mean, how does a common preference differ from consensus?

Hm, I'd never really distinguished between them? I thought TCS was kind of a codification and philosophy that outlined an approach to CL?

I saw the beginning of that thread a few days ago, but it looks like there's more good stuff to read - thanks for linking, so I can check it out!

I'm just confused about the difference (if any) between TCS and CL. I've never heard it explained, and most of the descriptions of CL sound a lot like TCS to me. They both encompass a wonderful approach, IMO - but I'm curious about the difference, and the more that none of us seems to be able to articulate one, the more curious I get!!

I guess the way I see it is TCS is one component of CL
