Gage Riley was born just after 8 this morning weighing in at 9 pds 10 oz and 22 inches. He was doing so well that he was able to go to recovery with me and nursed right away for 45 minutes. He was with me for about an hour and then the NICU was looking for him. Jim went with Gage and he had an ultrasound. What they determined from the test was that there is tissue in his head or it’s a bleed. All his ventricles and the rest of his brain look fine. We won’t know anything else until we see the Neuro in two weeks. We were so happy to hear the news!!!! Gage spent about 5 hours in the NICU and then was finally able to come by me. Since he’s so big, they are constantly pricking his heel to check his blood sugar levels which so far have been fine.
Hopefully that can stop tomorrow!
I’m doing well, had a bit of a longer stay in recovery because they said I was having some heart issues, but I’m fine. I’ve got a bit of soreness but it’s nothing to complain about. I’m also pretty tired, I didn’t get much sleep last night and it’s been a long day. I didn’t see Gage or Jim for that 5 hours and waiting for an answer was tough.
He continues to nurse like a champ and that makes me very happy too. I wasn’t expecting for him to go to recovery with me or to be able to nurse him that quick, it was wonderful. I'm so happy he's with me now.
Thank you everyone so much for all of your thoughts and prayers, I really do believe they made a difference for Gage. Keep praying that things are as good as they sound and this isn’t as serious as we thought – that would truly be a miracle.
