Homebirth for high risk moms?

Is it ok or safe for a mother of a preemie, such as myself to have or hope for a homebirth? I know that you're supposed to be low risk to plan one, but obviuosly I'm not an idiot, I would go to the hospital if I were to have PROM again. But if I made it to atleast 37 weeks, should I be allowed a homebirth? My husband seems to think something would go wrong. :

i dont get the memos for what constitutes "high risk" anymore....i have a few of them (AMA, repeat VBAC). I think every pregnancy is different and you just have to take each one at a time. GL!

I think your midwife will probably have a cutoff date for how early she will deliver you at home.

do you have a condition which makes it likley you will have a preemie again? Obviously, you would need to have a cutoff for how early you would birth at home (some are okay with 36 weeks, some 37, etc) but as long as oyu make it to term, you are term. Do you have any reason to beloieve a term baby would need special help, like might the baby have a congential problem, etc? if not...go for it!

Hope and plan for the best, plan for the worst Our last was just under 36 weeks and was born in the hospital. This one we hoped and planned for a hb but knew there was a chance I could go early again so also planned on maybe going to the hospital. Our mws cutoff is 37 weeks which we hit last sunday!!! I was already dilated to a 4-5 the week before35-36 but babe is still holding in lol So the last week I was on pelvic rest and take it easy rest lol It depends on why you went early before. Mine was a combo of moving, doing to much, stress and the start of pe due to all that. Our mws do both hb and hospital. However the hosp they practice at is pretty far. We decided that if I went early again we would go to the one our last was born at and just deal with whoever was oncall. Easier that way with the other kids and back and forth for feedings. Not a big deal for us, I'm ok with stating what I want and dh is too. Having a relationship with a mw/dr is nice but really once things are going I could care less who is there. If your mw does not have a back up dr or one you like you can always have dual care up until the cut off and then tell your dr you changed your mind your having a hb. I would plan for it and if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen, better then being 39 weeks labouring in a hospital bed, kicking yourself for not going for it

Thanks to you all.

Good luck, lildevil.

I actually don't have a condition... as far as we know. It was completely random, so it's about 50/50 on the chance I'll go early again. But my daughter is the healthiest preemie I know. She's chunky, smart and happy. So I'm not really worried. I just wanted some assurances for my hubby.
