I want to splurge on a little magic for my coming lo. I already have a short little list but am trying to decide on a little malabrigo or some Owool. I think they are similiar price.... Opinions? I am just going to order it while ordering some blue sky alpaca organic cotton for presto chango (one is for a baby gift and the other is totally for me). Is that stuff fabulous? I sure hope so. I don't have anywhere to go to check this stuff out irl- so your opinions are needed! TIA!

I think the malabrigo would be nice for a new baby. I wouldn't go with alpaca. I made a couple different things for my dd and the little hairs kept getting in her clentched fists and then her mouth. But it is very very soft, so maybe if you can find a kind that doesn't shed.
I definately like the blue sky cotton! I'm making a cardigan out of it for them as a sample and wishing I could keep it for myself. Perhaps with the money they pay me I'll just have to go buy some more for myself LOL I made a couple bibs and hats for my dd and niece- it holds up pretty well too.

Hmm. Of the two, I'd go for the malabrigo but I like my handknits for tiny babies a little finer and more delicate. A cashmerino blend would be nice for a winter babe

I don't think you can go wrong. I knit the Blue Sky Alpaca Baby Hoodie with the organic cotton yarn. So soft and squooshy! And I have some malabrigo I've fondled, but not knit up yet. Since you're expecting a January bundle, if you're in a cooler climate, I'd go with the wool if you're planning on knitting something nb. If a blanket, I'd go with the cotton since it'll see warm weather action as well. I do find the cotton to be a bit pilly, though.

I'm planning a malabrigo sweaer and longies set for my upcoming babe so I vote for that! I *love* malabrigo and think it's perfect for babes.
The Blue Sky cotton is super nice, too. I made ds a sweater out of it when he was brandnew. So soft and shiny.
