Hello!

I'm not new to mothering, but I've never posted on this sub-board before. I'm a doula and CBE in training and planning a homebirth for my next baby (still a few years away but I like to think ahead). I'm spending more time on mothering lately because I'm finding the climate at the more mainstream board I usually frequent a bit chilly:. I feel so much more comfortable talking birth here since I know I'm not going to be attacked for my opinions.

I just loved being pregnant with DS, but the birth didn't go exactly as I had hoped. I had a midwife in a hospital, and while she was wonderful and caring, she was still part of the hospital. DH is completely on board for a homebirth (YAY!). I think he's the only male birth activist that I know. He's a combination birth activist and engineering 'geek' (I say that lovingly). The other day he compared birth the the Matrix, saying that women who are afraid of homebirth are like the people who are still plugged into the Matrix and someone needs to come along and unplug them so they can see what's really going on.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself :. I'll mostly be lurking since I"m not TTC or pregnant.

Welcome!!! I am a midwife student. I had a hosptial birth with my first and a homebirth with my second. It was wonderful. My DH should meet your DH. He tells everyone they should have their babies at home. He tells all his friends about it too. I told him your husbands comment about the matrix and he laughed.

Anyway welcome and look forward to chatting with you.

Hi! I'm also married to a geeky birth activist!
