How do I prevent this? Is this ugly? Updated with FO post #12

I was knitting a pair of shorties and everything was striping and looking beautiful and then I get to the legs and I have bright yellow stitches in the navy and the striping stops. I am only using one skein so I can't alternate skeins. Is there a way to fix it or does it not matter? DH doesn't like how the leg looks. What do you think? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3219/...5f2ae217_b.jpg.

I think it's cute that way!

Try knitting with the other end of the yarn.

I used to take the one skein and roll it inot two. That way I could choose to alternate if I felt the pooling was wonky.

Honestly, I don't like the yarn at all and I agree with your dh about the leg . . . I would try the pp sugg of using the other end.

I think they look great- but maybe decreasing a stitch or 2 would work.

did your stitch change at all? I've had that happen the pattern in the yarn changes now that the diameter is less, I kinda like it, and it will straiten it's self out. Or like PP said you could use the other end of the yarn, but it may happen again later down the leg

I'm never a fan of yellow, but I do like the way that the yellow and navy are working together horizontally to off-set the pink stripe which continues. IF they were mine, I'd be inclined to work a huge bad-ass ruffle (go stalk OtherMothernMadre for pictures) on the shorties, which will make the pooling on the leg irrelevant. There's no way that we can get the stripe pattern on the body back, because your new rows are literally only half the circumference, but you can have something new and pretty.

I second alternating with the other end.

Oh that is a thought, the lettuce edge ruffle. Thanks for the suggestions on using the other end. I don't know why I didn't think of that

RootzDawta: I am attracted to really gaudy colors .

I like the way they are knitting personally. I say keep going. You might be surprised at the end result.

They didn't turn out bad at all! They're cute! And the colors are growing on me (slowly).

I like them! They are very cute

Why would you knit with the other end of the yarn? I don't get what that would do.

The varigation would be reversed, because you're knitting with the same yarn backwards. It helps to break up ugly pooling if you alternate ends every few rows.
