Hold my hand and walk me through this please...

I want to knit socks for my MIL and my stepmom for Christmas. At my rate of knitting, I need to start them yesterday to finish them for 2020. LOL

I cannot find the colors that I'm looking for...so I think I want to dye my own.

For Stepmom, I want a soft pink with cream and tan - I'm seeing something very neutral, feminine and delicate. For MIL, I want purples, varying from where-are-my-sunglasses bright to deep, dark, and mysterious - almost like a grape explosion.

I have the yarn picked out (Nothing extravagant, just KnitPicks bare superwash), but what shades of the acid dye will give me the colors I'm looking for?

I don't dye yarn much but I think you could maybe find the colors you want on Etsy.com I'm sure the purple will be there and you could also special order if you dont find the pink.

Other wise I have heard that if you use kool-aid (grape) let the first section sit for 5 mins then the next section for 5 more min then the next section for 5 more mins, it creates a subtle varigation. I have not tried this and the purple kool-aid might not be as dark as you want to start. Aslo keep in mind that superwash picks up the dye so much faster than regular wool so I don't think the varigation would work.
