OMG-it was almost insulting- I had to wonder if they were doing it on purpose it was so blatant and recurrant

Nope, it's the filmmakers and editor's fault. There was a big write up about it in Entertainment Weekly and a few online publications too. It's the boom mics that you're seeing in the film from when they shot the scenes. They screwed up big time IMHO. If you're going to make this huge movie that you know tons of people want to see and you have a big budget you can afford to check and make sure you're getting your shots correctly.

And like you, I bet they really thought they "branched out" and reached a whole other audience ("they" being those inside trying to reach a more broad audience for a movie), when they probably maybe might not have. I know right, like there isn't a black woman in NY livin it up and doin it up....but that wasn't the show, so I doubt that would be the movie....again, kwim?
Am I getting my point across? They portrayed very specific roles so only very specific fans would see the movie but for gaining and audience w/a larger scope, they needed more, so enter Jen. That's what I get out of that move. It wasn't condescending in intent, but maybe in delivery? |

I can't tell you how much I've missed my girls since the show ended. Dh and I watched it together every week, so we went to see the movie together. We also happened to be at a marriage retreat when we saw it. We had an emotional day, then a dinner/movie date. We had a chance to sit in an empty theater and share our hearts for the 45 minutes before the movie. Then I cried big huge tears through most of the movie. Loved it! Dh already knows that the DVD is on my Christmas wish list.
