So I've been using Secret Platinum for a long time now (10+ years?). Anyway, I've always been very sweaty in my pits, and I hate that feeling. I sweat through my clothes frequently, and don't like the sweat marks (and stains that I get). The Secret platinum has been the most effective product for me thus far, and still doesn't completely solve the issue. Anyway, over the years, I have had several times where I've gotten infected sweat glands and end up switching to a plain deoderant for a few weeks. The deoderant doesn't keep the sweat away, and I hate the way the fragrances smell when they mix with my sweat.
Well, I've recently had a baby and since then, have started becoming a lot more aware of how the products/chemicals I've been using affect my home environment and what my baby is exposed to, so I've started trying to use more natural products (lots of bs and vinegar instead of cleaning/hygiene products). But I haven't had the guts to switch my pit products, yet. One issue is that right now, my left pit has several clogged ducts and some ingrown hairs and white heads and such... and it hurts. So I've been thinking about the role of antiperspirant... I realize that it's SUPPOSED to clog those ducts, and now I'm realizing that that can't be a good thing and has got to be at the root of all the clogged/infected glands and ducts that I've had in the past (I deal with it maybe twice a year). So I'm really considering something more natural. I'm tempted to try Oyin's Funk Butter.
BUT....
I still don't want to be sweaty. I keep reading about natural deoderants. And since I understand the difference btwn deoderant and antiperspirant, I want to know if these natural deoderants are going to keep my pits dry. Like I said, I tend to be very sweaty (oddly enough, I'm sweatier in the winter months than I am in the summer months). There have been times when I can actually feel the sweat dripping down my side (TMI-I'm sorry). And that makes me really self-conscious.
So I guess what I'm asking is if there is a more natural product or recipe that will keep me dry and smelling good, but will also not block the ducts in my pits? Or is this asking too much? Also, how long does the Oyin's product last? I noticed that it costs more than the Secret that I'm buying now... and we are on a very tight budget. If it's something that will last a really long time, then I don't feel quite as badly about spending a little bit more on it.
