Hello all,

I posted this in VBAC thread, but thought I might get even more input if I posted here also... the only thing I forgot to type in my original post is that no midwife is willing to do HBAC in my area with out a back up doctor... other than that, my story is copied and pasted below.

I would appreciate all feedback Thanks a ton!!!

Looking for HBAC friendly doctors

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all,

I have been a lurker here from time to time, I think this forum is wonderful. I am now in need of some help myself.

I am in the Los Angeles area. I am 30 wks pregnant with my second child, and I knew from the minute the doctor was sewing me up from a c/s with my first that I wanted a home birth next time. I have a wonderful midwife and we have two scenarios going on for my birth with my second. I have tried to find an HBAC friendly doctor for quite some time (Fishbine is way to far, Kline will only do it if you give birth 5 miles from the hospital) and so far our only hope is Dr Wu in Glendale... however he has given me the stipulation that I need to bring him an ultrasound at 36 wks and he may or may not support us if this baby looks like it will be at least a half pound smaller than my first (ridiculous, I know). Our back up plan is to VBAC at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia where my midwife has privledges in a sense and a back up doctor who will only support VBAC in a hospital.

There are my scenarios... I was hoping to find anyone out there who knows of VBAC doctors that support homebirth in case of transfer/emergency. I live in Tujunga which is Northern San Fernando Valley. I would appreciate any input and suggestions of how get the homebirth scenario 100% in my sights, instead of the wait and see game. As it is, I didn't want any ultrasounds or to know how big this baby may possibly as I don't need any potential mental blocks of "baby too big".

Thanks for listening to my story and I'm open to any input and suggestions.

I just wanted to bump this as I received no replies, but had my first ultrasound to determine baby size and he is measuring big... I know that this doesn't mean much in the way of if I can deliver vaginally, but unfortunately the back up doctor I have will only back up homebirth if this baby looks smaller than my first... so I am desperately needing a new back up doctor... I really don't want to have a hospital birth

Thanks,
Michelle

Hey Michelle,
I received your private message today through mothering.com and replied. I don't know if I did it correctly so please email me privately at ivymft@yahoo.com if my reply doesn't get to you. I hope you are well.

I'm going to see Dr. Jason Rothbart at Cedars next week. I'm in the southbay, but used Fischbine as my backup last time. He isn't at Cedars really anymore. Dr. Rothbart is supposed to be great. Mary
