need help picking a pattern for 1st time cd maker

I am about to be a mom and today my husband shocked me by readily agreeing that yes, we should cloth diaper. So I hopped online and wow theyre not cheap!! However, I can sew (thank God!).

I need a little assistance with picking a pattern though

I like the look of this one (http://handmadebyrita.blogspot.com/2...t-pattern.html), it seems like it fits the baby well and would be a good choice as the same dipes would work for a newborn or an older baby. I wanted to get a little advice before I embark on my diaper making crusade because once I start making them, it will be epic proportions (I want to have my stash ready and waiting by the time lo arrives on the scene).

Have any of you used this pattern/style and what were your thoughts? Is it smart for me to go ahead and start making diapers? Im guessing I will probably be overwhelmed with the baby for a while and I dont really want to start him in disposables... Any help would be great! Im just new to all this, today is the first day Ive given it serious thought (I really thought dh was gonna say "Ick! Use disposables" lol")

It's very smart of you to make your own! I'd suggest spending a day or two reading threads at the diaper sewing divas website: diaperdivas.proboards57.com. Tons and tons and tons of information there...

There is a very good list of where to buy supplies and patterns in the stuck stickies at the top of this forum as well. Congratulations and have fun sewing! It's very addictive
