renters: what % of your income goes to rent? - Page 4

I'm too tired to figure recall the basic math for figuring percentages but about half of our monthly income goes towards rent and basic utilities.

My rent just went up and right now 33% of Dh's gross pays rent w/o utilities.

NOT including any utilities except water, our rent is 31% of our weekly income IF we include our govt family payment. If we didn't get that, it would be 46%

25% of gross income . . . .I hate living in a higher COL city. The city I lived in before it would have been 1/2 what we're paying now.

Ours appears to be right around 30%, not including most utilities. We live in a suburb of Seattle. If we were to live in the city, or closer to DP's job (eastside = $$$$), we would be paying a lot more for rent. OR pay close to the same for a much smaller place, and it would undoubtedly be an apartment.

Cost of living here is pretty bad. Especially the closer you get to where all the jobs are, of course.
