June dingoes runnin' in the sun! - Page 38

Pokin' my head in to say hi - we're road-tripping, and I've been running in my IL's hilly neighborhood - even modest hills are kicking my butt! But it's such a luxury to have other adults around to watch the kids while I run... I'm trying to do every other day while we're on the trip. Now we're in Omaha for a few days, getting oriented for our move later in the month. I got to see my soon-to-be new house today for the first time, which was fun. We're swinging back up to the IL's for the 4th and I'm doing a 5K in the morning - I'm excited!

Off to get dd to bed...

Where in Ohio?

A bunch of us are camping in Ohio the weekend of the 11-13th. Hocking Hills State Park. We did all the planning on the yahoo group, which I don't remember if you'd joined? I'm hoping there is somewhere good to run around there!

Dude. I HATE the freakin' bucket! You know, I'm a quasi-MDC mama in the sense that there are definitely things advocated here that I don't ascribe to or have compromised on. But when it comes to Breastfeeding and Babywearing and holding that sweet new baby as much as freakin' possible... well, that saves my MDC Card from the fire. Besides... unless the kid stays asleep from the car to the store and back again (and ain't it sweet when they do?) -- is there a MORE INCONVENIENT way to shop with your kid than the bucket? Ugh.

Seriously. Ugh.

RR: Biked 14 miles tonight and didn't do so bad on the hills if I say so myself. It was all out and back, so very downhill out and vice-versa. I'm trying not to think about how behind I am and just think about how I still have 8 weeks and I'm just doing this to have a super awesome goal this summer anyway. AND!!! A reason to meet CherylAnn FINALLY!!! And maybe PLADY!!!

doctorjen - I am bad at personals so I forgot to send good thoughts your family's way after your DH's accident! That is great they are giving you blue book value. Could you get one gently used car and one older car, do you think? That way your DS would have something to drive. I'm not up on used car values though - we got a van 2 years ago that was only 4 years old with 35K on it, for $14K - it was a really good deal even though we went looking for a Civic, LOL.

Our dog is on prednisone - I guess it changes the way the pancreas secretes insulin so his blood sugar won't dip quite so much. He's on a very low dose now and they will increase it as needed. There's one other med we can go to after that, but it is very expensive and can be toxic and I can't think of the name right now. I am just hoping to give him good quality of life as long as possible. he is already 10 years old and we've had him for 7 of those years, and he's had a good life.

Probably no run today - the cable guy is here right now installing cable internet -wahoo! out here in the wilds of VT we did not have cable until last fall, and we have no DSL. So I use dial-up for work (I need a secure connection) and satellite for "fun." The satellite is pretty fast but when it snows the dish gets covered and won't work. cable will be NICE.

I'm heading out for a little bike ride at the park with my rascals. It's so nice out this morning!

Two people looked at my house yesterday!

Ohhh Mommabelle-that's exciting! : Maybe one of them is "the one".

Nancy-So sorry about your dog.

I did 3.6 this morning. It was unusually cool-62. Man, I wish it would stay that way for Friday, but the low then is supposed to be 70. By the time I start, it will probably be close to the 80's. And I just saw the revised P'tree route. The had to change the end b/c the large park where it usually ends cannot handle it this year due to the drought. So instead of ending on a nice long downhill, we are now ending on a long, steep uphill. :

Totally Off Topic!
I've been trying to figure out what to say to a friend who seems to have depression. Just thought maybe the dingos would have dealt with this too?

I'm going over there today and am not sure if I should say something, but this has been going on for a couple of months and for awhile I was avoiding them, because the conversations were so dark and gloomy, but this is a good friend and I don't want to abandon them. How can I talk to her? She's saying things that make no sense whatsoever. They have a school age child and adopted a little boy last year and he's 18 months. It might be some post adoption depression and her dh is working 16 hour days..no joke.
I suggested she use Mother Morning Out 2-3 days a week instead of one day and she said no way and then in the next breath is saying she's going to get a full time job. She says she hates summer and older child is getting on her nerves etc.. Basically I'm worried, but she's the sort who will bite your head off if you tread to far, but I'm thinking I need to take the risk anyway. Anyone btdt?

2 weeks! That'd go by without me even noticing I'm afraid. I just hope I can get myself out for a 5 miler before the race in August!

M'belle - Maybe just being direct would work? She probably knows she bites people's heads off so it might really make an impression that you're concerned enough to take that chance? I don't know, that may be terrible advice but I'm often not tactful.

Nancy - That must have been so scary!
