September 07 Mamas-Time Flies It is JUNE!! - Page 3

Anyone want a 4 year old??

She can be really sweet.....

She's just driving me batty right now.....and I need a break from her but don't have anywhere to really "send" her for the day.

Everytime I turn my back, she is picking up her sister. She just took her little bowl of Cheerios just to take it.

I've spent a good part of the morning with her since L was sleeping unpacking her room, helping her decide where to put her things in her new room and we finger painted for a bit.

I'm taking a small break to check email and in on here......

I can't take her outside to play bc it's been raining/storming for the past 12 hours.....nonstop lightening, great thunder.....The thunder stopped for a bit so I opened the front door (it's 76 out) and let her splash in her rainboots for a bit.

LWAB: L is just being super sweet. She's always happy it seems these days which is good for me. I don't think she's gonna crawl. She'll go backwards a bit, she'll spin in a semi-circle and she gets around fine. Her big sister crawled for 2 weeks total. So, I'm not worried.....for now....

Food: She eats whatever we eat. I will put what we are eating in our Magic Bullet to blend it up a bit if it's chunky but she loves it. So far there isn't anything she doesn't like. She had a weird reaction to peas and garbanzo beans so we're waiting on those. She really likes Talapia and couscous. I still nurse before offering solids though.....

Standing: I can't believe the freestanding babies...holy canoli!!

Ishy: L LOVES those rusk things.....we are out and I need to go get more. They were on sale here about a month ago for $1.50/box and I am kicking myself for not picking up more and stashing them. She likes the veggie ones better than the plain ones (orange box). I use the mesh feeder all the time....just don't put banana in it. Can't get it clean... and it's a MESS.

Jeanine: Great invite and cute cake. I'll have to find a picture of dd's dino cake I made while we were packing up the house.... It was pretty neat.

Ok, I had more but I just glanced up and dd1 is practically on top of her sister....

XO to all.

Your 4 yo and my 5 yo can go play outside in the thunder together as long as they know to come in when the lightening starts.

Dh is scheduled to be back in town the 18th I think.

Linus is doing the breaststroke and going everywhere. I bet if he crawled like a normal baby he wouldn't bash his face on the floor so often. He can go up and down a couple of stairs (Family room to kitchen, piano hall ( that's what we call the area by the front door where we have squeezed the upright grand) to the turn in the stairs. He pulls up /stands up but only on his knees. The 2nd was his nine month mark and I started purees somewhat against my wishes. He also enjoys the self feeder with mango. He has a giant gag reflex. Despite being very vocal he doesn't say any consonants yet so the thought is that he needs to practice his oral motor skills. I'm not so sure. You would think that I would have more answers be able to relax and refute more things by baby #5.

Guess what - the severe weather sirens are going off and she does know to come in. She is terrified. I wish they would save them for tornadoes.

back to baby... He is not sleeping well unless he is in physical contact with my skin. and it is dark out. and he is latched on. and he is upright. and he is dry. and the stars are aligned just so. So, for just a few hours each night he straddles my leg, nurses and leans on me, and sleeps.

PS Wow, we have beautiful babies!!

Liam is currently sitting across from me eating a piece of whole grain toast and laughing at me. I feel like I'm getting behind on everything lately but I'm going to try and fix that today, I have tons of laundry to fold and the sink always has dishes in it. We may take a trip to the pool this morning because that seems to tire him out enough and he takes a longer nap. I think he's starting to get down to one long nap a day.

Swim diapers - I just put a regular fitted under his swim trunks, or sometimes he just wears the swim trunks. Pee is going to get in the pool regardless of what he's wearing

Sleep - Liam gets in a 5 or 6 hour chunk BEFORE I go to bed, then he's up randomly throughout the night, sometimes with screaming sessions. Around 3am this morning he woke up out of a sound sleep and sat up and just looked around quietly.

when i give jamison raw apples or carrots, i grate it. with a small cheese grater, like you'd use for parmesan cheese. it's messy of course, but not the choking hazard it could be with chunks of raw apple or carrot.
:

Vegetables should either be soft, or steamed to soften them, or grated like Jeanine said. Soft fruits are fine also. Anything they can chew and not break off into big chunks that aren't chewable is fine. By self feeding they learn to regulate what can reasonably fit into their mouths and protect themselves from choking as long as the food is appropriately prepared.

Lilah will scrape a carrot with her teeth grating it that way....but she has a mouthfull of teeth so it makes a difference....I give her pretty FAT carrots though with the greens cut off....she picked up the green part yesterday and kept smackin her sister with it laughing her butt off....it tickled her.....

THE RAIN STOPPED. no sun and it's muggy as all get out but the rain stopped. I am trying not to think of Leo out there all soggy.

Lilah just got ahold of the remote and turned on one of the shopping channels...she's staring at the diamondique type stuff all pie-eyed. bbl

Whoa I check out for a couple days to finish my class and you all go crazy.

Hooray I am done with my class! I did the test last night and turned in my project yesterday morning. Woohoo!

Dahlia is doing a really fast combat crawl but still likes to just roll around on the floor too. She is really laid back and easy going. She tries to eat/choke on/gag on lots of stuff off the floor. Doesn't seem to matter how much we vacuum she will find something. She is doing some solids but we are going really slow because of her major gag reflex. I gave her tiny banana and tiny watermelon pieces and she gagged on both repeatedly. I have given her some smashed up bites of food I am eating but we have mainly been doing jarred purees because she eats so little. I mix it with baby oatmeal cereal to thicken it up and get her used to more solid things in her mouth. We have a family full of sensory sensitive people so it doesn't surprise me. She loves the mesh feeder, watermelon is her favorite in there. She seems to really just be taking her time with everything. She is my first baby that seems to really enjoy being a baby. I will have pictures up soon. She is getting so big (for her) but is still under 17lbs so not really that big. Definitely not standing on her own but starting to pull up on ds's mattress that is on the floor. She is tough too. Eavan is pretty hard on her and she takes it. He really smashed her with a toy and she cried for a second and then read him the riot act. Baby cursing is really funny.

jamison loves the remote too. she either hits the button that turns off the dvd player, or the button that ejects the dvd. then i hear a big kid yell "JA-MI-SON!!!!!!" It's kinda funny.

jamison doesn't really wake up wake up at night, just some nights she's *really* tossy turny and nursing all night. she did wake up one night, around 11, and was just inconsolable. we figure it must have been a bad dream

swim dipes - i use the store-bought disposable swim diapers : i use the same size for dd1 and jamison, so they're too big for jamison :: dd1 is daytime potty trained, but we can't convince her that she doesn't need a swim diaper

Seriously.... I try and try to stay on top of this thread, but I just do. not. have. time. How do you do it? My 34 mo finally got to sleep with sister right behind her. I have a few minutes to myself which should be spent in the laundry room and cleaning the rest of the house.

LWAB - Harleigh is not full-fledged crawling, but pulling up, trying to stand. I've noticed several of our babes are doing this. Walk before you crawl? She also has eight teeth. She has two on top that have finally broken through, giving me a bit of a break in the nursing department.

We went camping this weekend. Harleigh thoroughly enjoyed it. I do wish I would've taken a pack-n-play, though. She was eating everything that drifted onto her blanket. She spent most of the weekend in the Ergo. Seemed the safest place for her. Sarah loved it the most and I can't wait to do it again.

My DH and I are attending a concert Friday night. We'll be gone from 4:00 PM to midnight. I'm totally freaking about it. Just don't tell my DH. Our anniversary is Saturday, so this is supposed to be a special time. I just don't like leaving my babies. My parents are coming to stay with the girls. They love them. Um, both the girls love my parents and my parents love the girls. I've started pumping and will try to have enough for a bottle or two, but 6 hours!?!?! I'd like to hear reassuring stories that my baby will be fine. And my 34 mo is finally starting to fall asleep without nursing. This will be a test for us all!

see, this is your problem. you have your priorities all wrong . housework gets done *after* you spend some time on mdc. or maybe not at all. my secret is i'm letting jamison tear up a magazine to keep herself occupied. so, not only is my house not getting cleaner while i'm chatting, it's actually getting messier!

Lucy has "her own" remote. We had an extra universal remote that's the same as the one we use now, except I had spilled something on it and it stopped working, so we took the batteries out and cleaned it up and it's hers now! She likes it because she gets to be just like daddy, lol. Here they are with their matching remotes:

We're having a somewhat better day after the chiro, I feel better and she's taken two good naps instead of staying awake and miserable like yesterday! The chiro thinks she's not far off from walking but said it's generally good for them to have a good strong crawl, even if it's for a short time before they walk...because kids that go right to walking have a higher prevalence of dyslexia! Weird. He also said he thinks she's going to be a gymnast, which makes me happy because I gymnastics, lol. Otherwise, he said she'll be a fast runner because she's strong but light. It was a fun visit, at least! I hope maybe she'll sleep better (his first question was about sleeping) but at least I don't feel like I need a week at the spa getting massages three times a day. Don't tell my dh though, I still need to try to get a good long massage out of this!

Ishy - I'm glad the chiro helped out!

Jeanine! That is usually my plan of action also. But the house looks like a war zone and I did manage to get it looking half way decent. Liam has learned how to open all the kitchen cupboards and enjoys pulling all the pots and pans out so now my kitchen is a mess again.

Wendi - Congratulations!

baby cursing.

I think subsequent children are tough due to the sibling 'influence' and never having things quite how it should be (like quiet when sleeping).

Ds1 told me Linus fell out of bed and I flipped, "Who put him up there?!" only to be told he fell off a mattress on the floor and he climbed up there himself.

Wendi, your posts always resonate with me. Do you start up with another class right away?

Dahlia is taking a very long nap. She has been asleep almost 2 hours. I should be cleaning but.......... I do have my 10yo ds emptying the dishwasher for me so its like I am cleaning.

Dahlia popped a third tooth a couple days ago. We kept thinking she has something in her mouth because she was grinding her new tooth. We finally figured it out after checking her mouth at least 3 times. DUH!

Well that didn't work out. ds1 dropped a cup and broke it which woke Miss Dahlia. That's what I get for shirking my duties. I put her in the high chair and am going to stuff some food in her for fun and distraction. See you all a bit later.

I am glad you connect with my posts. I always love to see you posting as I can relate to you and all your kids. I won't be starting another class anytime soon. It was really hard to find the time to deal with it and it was stressful. My plan at this time is to start an event planning business so when I have stress and deadlines at least I will be getting paid for them. We just need more money so I need to figure out something that works around my mothering.

Dd1 will be taking two college classes this term as she just passed her GED. Today I dropped her off at the community college <sniff, sniff> and she went and did placement testing and counseling. I am so proud of how she is handling everything in her life.

I put an apple in the mesh feeder to buy myself one more post but Dahlia isn't going for it. Gotta run.
