Breastfeeding imagery

I've been meaning to start this thread for ages. As a nursing mother, I've gotten really obsessed with breastfeeding imagery -- in art, in photography, in real life. I'm interested in what it says about the artist, about our culture, and just the aesthetic beauty of the scene. So hopefully this thread can be a repository for those images and a space for discussion about nursing in art.
Here are a few to start out.

"Charity" by Jacque Blanchard, 1635
"Madonna and Child", Leonardo da Vinci, 1480s
"Abundance" Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, Italy.
"All Thing to All People, Kate Kelly, 2008

Great idea! When DC were in the NICU and I was madly pumping, I visualized a great goddess image with milk flowing from her in enormous sprays!

Some that I really like:

Thirsty Baby by Wayan Rendah

Anything by Heidi Scarfone

And I think I may add this one to my little collection too.

Great idea for a thread! I've been looking for BF art specifically, and AP art generally, to fill the many blank walls that we have.

I'd have to add Pablo Picasso's Maternity.

I have that Picasso hanging in the sitting room above our nursing chair, DD loves it!

I got a beautiful stone nursing goddess pendant which I hung beside my bed to help focus and inspire me at the start, it's gorgeous. I spent months looking for it online because I knew what I wanted in my head but just couldn't find it! They also have these nursing babies too, so cute (look at the little chubby hand!)!

Have you seen ProMoM's Fine Art gallery, it's full of beautiful images, I love this one.

Lots of nursing Madonnas are here. My favorites: icon-like, very sweet image, older nursling, and one by Da Vinci. I don't care for the unnatural style of most Madonna-and-Child images, but I really liked those because they're realistic.

"Christ Blessing the Children" by Lucas Cranach the Elder is one of my new favorites. See that lady two over from Jesus nursing her baby with her breast just popped up over her dress? And Christ isn't all "ZOMG!!! She just whipped her boob out right in front of me!!!!" He doesn't even care... because it's absolutely normal and lovely and holy.

I plot every year to put one of these (Mary nursing baby Jesus) on my Christmas card. Maybe this is the year...

Annette, that's beautiful.

I really like this image off the promom gallery.
Also, the breastfeeding art website has some nice images.
From breastfeeding.com, I love this Diego Rivera, and also this pastoral scene.
And here's me nursing my baby when he was, according to the time stamp, 59 minutes old.

Not sure if you want this included in this thread, but
Victoria's Secret recently added Nursing bras to its product line (yeh!) BUT the photos of the models are all HEADLESS!!! What does that mean???

Wow, that is freaky. They're totally headless. It also kind of weirds me out to see a nursing bra and sixpack abs in the same frame.
That said, I kind of want that all-over lace bra.

I love these http://hyenacart.com/familytreeglass...index.php?c=48

If I wore jewelry I'd have one for sure! Maybe when we reach the 1-year of nursing mark I'll hint to DH that he should get one for me.
