My lovely daughter has been napping my my arms for the past two hours, along with a numb arm, I have also compiled a list of all the images and sites we have so far:

I'll add more as people post the links but I just thought it would be handy to put them all in one place!

That "Abundance" fountain is awesome!

All of these are entitled "Charity" in some way, as breastfeeding was THE representation of that virtue for many centuries:

1600s

Another 1600s... I love her lap full of children!

Sculpture from the late 1600s... she looks so pleased.

That said, I kind of want that all-over lace bra.
I have it in Ivory and find it very comfortable.

This is a wonderful thread. I feel like all expecting moms should see these images to realize that breastfeeding is this wonderful thing that bonds us to woman throughout history! Looking at all of these beautiful images, I have a real feeling of being part of something larger. Thanks!!!!!

OT, but I also have this bra in ivory- it is exactly the same as the one sold by Motherhood Maternity for about half the price VS is asking.

Funny, that's actually what reminded me to start this thread. I was at the Blanton museum this weekend and I saw a painting called "Charity" of a woman nursing several children. It really is, literally, the definition of charity -- you're giving of yourself for someone else.

I know one of the Picasso's has already been mentioned, but what about this Picasso drawing?

http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Matern...s_i144425_.htm

I had a "Peace and Joy" Calendar of Picasso paintings last year and this was the picture for November... perfect because I had my baby in September!

I have one I'd like to share, but the quality is HORRIBLE. Sorry about that. My MIL was visiting a museum in Russia (I think!) when she and her friend stumbled upon this painting of a woman nursing a wounded man. Of course they got a big kick out of it. I thought it was beautiful. She tried to take a picture, but without the flash, it came out so blurry. But I couldn't help but share it anyway. I'd like to find out the name of this painting; maybe it's somewhere online.
Here ya go.

I just found some similar when I was looking for a link to the painting I photographed at the Louvre in April. (by Marco Da Oggiono)

Lots of breastfeeding art on this page.
