I just had my first midwife appt, which was lovely. However, the one worry was that she couldn't find the hb- and she really tried for a while. This is particularly worrisome b/c I had spotting last weekend, was afraid of m/c and went to the ER. The ultrasound showed a live and kicking baby with HB but they didn't know how to count it with the machine (ER residents). I've had no spotting since and feel a lot better and no cramping - so it seems like things are okay. But this was worrisome. The midwife seemed upset for me but not actually worried - just wanting to give me that reassurance. She thought I might have a retroverted uterus as she had some trouble finding that as well. And I know in the ER they had a little trouble finding the baby with the vaginal u/s and it was moving around a lot. So most likely I'm assuming everything's okay but I guess I wanted to check in here and see what you all said. How common is it to not be able to find the heartbeat at this stage. I'm only 2 days short of 12 weeks.
