Recommend a good light read to distract me!

I'm due to deliver DC#2 in two weeks and sleep has become very elusive. Late at night, while DH and DD snore next to me, I keep wishing I had a good book to read. I'm sick of reading all my mother and parent type magazines and need something to take my mind OFF the fact that labor is just around the corner.

What I'm imagining is a good book that's not too dense, quick and easy to read, and not too many serious themes because my emotions are spread thin already! Maybe something that would make me laugh? Or a good romantic story?

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer is a light, fluffy and FUN read.

And there are two sequels out in case you get really engrossed and zip through it quickly.

The Mommy-Track Mysteries by Ayelet Waldman are pretty light and fluffy. Though it does deal with a SAHM, kids and murders -- the emphasis is on humor.

I think the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich is pretty funny. The first one is One for the Money. It's a very light and funny series.

I love Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody Mysteries. They're really fun.

I was just stopping in to recommend those very books. I am reading Such A Pretty Fat right now. So far, it's no Bitter but it's still pretty funny (and I'm very early in).

Any David Sedaris, but Me Talk Pretty One Day is still my favorite.

Oh definitely David Sedaris, if you have a naughty sense of humor. I think laughing from Holidays on Ice helped me go into labor.

Walking in Circles Before Lying Down.... if you are a dog lover.

Bellweather by Connie Willis. Light, smart, and funny. It's set in modern day America but tends to get shelved in the science fiction section.
