I just had a cyst on my back removed, and now I have a nasty scar. The surgeon recommended rubbing cocoa butter on it, does anyone know if that works? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I don't have an answer but I am also really interested in this. My DD has a scar on her forehead which is not getting better as I had hoped.

I've used vitamin E with success before . I burned myself ( probably second degree, it made a huge blister ) and only have a slight discoloration where the burn was. I kept it very clean and used the vitamin E. I don't get a bottle of oil, I buy a bottle of the capsules and break them open as needed. It works wonders on redness or rashes in the diaper area too.

Vitamin E is great. The key is really the massaging more than the cream. There are also silicone strips that help reduce the appearance of keloids, too.

This isn't quite the same, but it worked nonetheless...

I used a mix of vitamin E oil and evening primrose oil to massage my pregnancy "bump" (to prevent stretch marks) and continued to use it on my emergency C-section scar since I already had it. Unless you look REALLY close, it is hard to tell I ever had a C-section. It also worked to prevent stretchmarks.

Do these work on old scars? My c-section scar is almost two years old and still all nasty looking.

I just had to jump in and say this... I have always had a scar on my forehead from something that happened when I was little (I don't even know what). And ever since I met my husband, he has always found this to be a beautiful part of me. And I don't mean that he thinks it's beautiful just because it's part of me... I actually think he thinks I'm MORE beautiful because of it... because it's something unique about my face - it gives me character I guess. Kinda weird, but I'll take it!

Talk to any cosmetic surgeon and they'll direct you to use silicone sheeting. You keep it on 24/7 (taking off to clean of course). Biodermis is a good product and not as expensive as others on the market. The sheets can last for up to 3 months if you take care of it, so it's really not too pricey if you think about how long it'll last.

DD had a bad fall which caused two bad scars on her cheek and forehead. Vitamin E oil was what we tried initially, but it didn't seem to make a difference . Now we are using Mederma cream. The active ingredient is onion bulb extract, I believe, but it's not an entirely natural product. I bought mine at WalMart, and it was relatively expensive, something like $14 for a small 20g tube. But it's WORKING! Hooray! I really don't want DD to have scarring on such a visible area of her body.

rosehip seed oil with helichrysum essential oil is really excellent. hard to find though! rosehip goes rancid fast. so jojoba might be a better option
