Teaching my EPed for DD about Nursing!

So my DD who is 27mths now is totally excited about her "new baby sister" due the end of July/early Aug. We have been talking about what the little one will be doing in its first months of life, how she won't know how to sit up, crawl, play with toys, walk, or talk. All the baby will really do in the beginning is sleep, get its diaper changes lots and lots and nurse all the time.

So then she says "when the baby comes mommy will have milk again, your boobs won't be empty anymore?". I say "yep when the baby is born I will have lots and lots of milk". So then she goes "yummmy, I want milk too". so I tell her very very kindly "she will have to drink from my boobies if she wants milk, I can't pump anymore for her". (after 22mths of EPing I am just DONE with that pump!!!!

After that conversation she has been thinking about what I said for more than a few weeks now. I have told her again and again very kindly that I can't pump but if she wants milk I will teach her how to nurse, but she can't use her teeth, no biting. She thinks some more about it and then today she comes over and touches my boobs and says....

"this one for baby sister (the right one) and this one for Lola (the left one)" she says they are going to share and nurse together.

So cute my heart just melted.

(who knows what will happen when the baby actually comes. But if she really wants milk I will work with her to learn how to nurse. It would be just amazing if she actually learned how after all these years!!!!)

what a sweet story. My ds wasn't really nursing, he stopped halfway through my pregnancy (he'd put his mouth up to me, but not get anything). He was very intersted that I was going to nurse Rebecca and we talked about it a lot before she came, so I was a bit worried he'd pick it back up when my milk started flowing. after Rebecca arrived sometimes he'd ask to nurse and comment that he left the other side for Rebecca (in a very sweet way).

In the end he never really wanted to nurse (he continued to 'pretend' till just recently) and was very content to have lots of story time while nursing.

And how sweet of you to be willing to let her nurse!
