This was diagnosed at my 19 wk ultrasound. My cervix was centered directly under my placenta. Chances it will move completely out of the way are not great. I would love to hear from other moms who have dealt with the complications of this condition.

No btdt, but a close friend is dealing with this right now...I know it is really tough! I hope that you are able to have a safe and peaceful delivery despite this!

With my last I had a complete previa at 14-15 wks. It was low at 26 wks and by term it was fundal. That baby was also a transverse lie until about 35 wks. I ended with a very nice vaginal delivery.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Actually a "diagnosed" complete previa at 19 weeks has a very good chance of clearing up. Do you have actual signs or was it just during your u/s that they noticed it? A previa without symptoms shouldn't even be diagnosed until about 26 weeks when the uterus has moved higher and they can actually get a good look at the positioning.
FTR I was "diagnosed" with a complete previa with my first during my 20 week scan and it was all cleared up by 25 weeks.

Also I think Henci Goer touches on this in her book The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth but I'm not totally sure, it's been a year or two since I've read it.

I was completley previa at 19 weeks and ended up with a lovley homebirth.
If I had another baby, I would UC and not do prenatal care because of all the undue stress this caused me during my pregnancy.
It is completley unnessicary to "diagnose" previa at 19 weeks.

You will likley be ok. Your uterus has LOTS of growing to do yet and that placenta will probably strectch right out of the way for that baby to come through.
Have faith in your body, sister.

My neighbor had complete previa, I believe, around 20 weeks or so. But now she's 32-ish weeks and everything has moved to a good position.
So good luck!
So good luck!Thank you for the ownderful stories. I have had no symptoms at all, not even a spot of blood since I was 3 weeks along. I will say that my placenta was perfectly centered over my cervix, and it was very disconcerting! I have another US scheduled at 28 weeks, which should give us a better idea of whether or not this placenta will move!
so far, I am just trying to NOT lift my 23 pound 19 month old. Everything else, I have dealt ok with.

I had a "complete previa" diagnosed at my 18 wk u/s.
I'm now 32 weeks, and have had no complications. At my 28 wk repeat u/s they said it was a "marginal previa" which, mind you, means that no part of the placenta was covering the cervix. My OB STILL started talking about c-sections if it hadn't moved at my "next u/s" which BTW isn't happening as I've found a CNM and am now planning a homebirth. She said that "marginal previa" is basically BS, nothing to worry about and she's SUPER picky and risks out 50% of the people she interviews!
I wouldn't worry about it and just wait and see. Good luck!

Your placenta should move out of the way unless you have a previous caesarean section or other scar tissue in your uterus. The placenta is notorious for getting stuck on scars on the uterus from previous surgeries.
My sister had a complete previa that moved to a partial previa after a caesarean section. Her baby was a transverse lie and so she had a repeat after planning for a vbac.

I was diagnosed last pregnancy with a complete placenta previa at my 20 week ultrasound. Like you, I searched everywhere for reassurance that it would move, but found little positive info about complete previas. I also have a two year old that likes to be carried around, and feared all of the time that I might have a major bleed and would have to be hosiptalized.
At my 28 week u/s my placenta had moved 7 cm away from my cervix. I was cleared for my homebirth. I did experience a little more bleeding than normal during delivery (my midwife expected this and planned for it) due to the placenta's low-lying position, but everything turned out perfectly.
I wish you much luck!

No worries about an unecessary c-section here. This is my 6th babe, including one large shoulder dystocia homebirth! My Mw is waiting in the wings in case this sucker moves. I know margin of error, that sort of thing.
I still haven't had any bleeding or other complications which is good. I already have another US schedules at 28 weeks to check place ment again.
