Those! (bolded ones really speak to me right now) and had a giggle about the bs'ing one.. I think we all have a bit of that in our lives somewhere, no matter how confident we LOOK to other people

Just had to pop over and post.. I just spent the nicest half hour or so on the patio in the cool wintry (where does that e go in there? lol) air with a cup of coffee and misters 6&4 playing in the yard, and my journal

I think it may have been in last months thread that someone posted the prompt for 'the biggest misconception people have about me', but I never got around to writing on it. Well I did today and it was very insightful. I think I enjoyed writing that more than anything else so far

Hello, all!

J's Mama~ thanks for posting that! I journaled those questions when my first daughter was just a few months old (seven years ago!). It was a beautiful time- but hard as it was a big transition. It's cool to think of the changes and growth of the last nearly eight years.

O.k. all- I'm excited and nervous. I have the incredible opportunity to take a class this August called The Artist's Journal: Forest Inspiration and Ecology. At first, I was so excited, but now fear is creeping in. You know-I'm not an artist, I can't draw, it will be embarrassing...

Oh, and the fountain pen is yummy! So fun to write with. I decided on a medium nib and it almost seems to big. But, I like the boldness and swagger of it.

BelovedK~ Enjoy the beach! We took our first trip of the summer to the coast yesterday. Ahhhhhh- can't wait to write about it today.

Prompt/Exercise

So is everyone too busy journaling to post? Thought I'd add a new prompt for this month.

The Dinner Party
From Journalution

Here’s a fun list to create in your journal, and also a great topic of conversation at your next cocktail party. Who are the top five people you’d like to have dinner with before you die? For now, use people who are still living, although it’s fun to create a list of dead celebrities to dine with, too. For this exercise, imagine that you will eventually manifest a dinner or meeting with these people. Think of everyone in the world- musicians, authors, politicians, athletes – who you’d really love to have an intimate conversation with. Start b writing down every name that pops into your mind. Then, as the days go by, narrow down our list and rack the top five.
What would you ask each person? What are these particular people in your list? Can you determine what these selections reveal about your hopes and dreams? Describe in vivd detail how the evening would infold: where the dinner takes place, what circumstances brought you together, and the ongoing conversations and budding friendships that might develop.
Share your list with friend and family. Put it out there. You never know…

I got (what?) NO writing done at the beach. nada...

I also had an inspiration for a writing prompt during my walk tonight and I have forgotten it.

Tonight I am going to journal about the things i am going to release in my life in order to allow in some new, positive change. They can be attitudes, stuff/clutter, friends that are no longer in sync with me. anything really.

Thank you for the encouragement! I signed up for the class- it's in August. I'll be sure to tell you all about it.

My dp and I often talk about "the dinner party"- we have been for a long time (this week 17 years ago we met in the desert!). My list changes, but it always includes Jane Austen and Joseph Campbell.

yeah, not much journaling done either.... one tiny bit, but i have tons i need to process. love the prompt! salvia, i love your two! i've not thought of mine in a long time, but joe is usually on my list too. right now, the only person i can think of is the person i'm manifesting as the next president. i would love to talk with him for hours..... though i'm sure he has better things to do...

I went camping this weekend and was hoping to be inspired to journal but it didn't happen. I'm wondering if I'm just not needing to journal or if there is something I just don't want to write about. Hmmmm.

Probably the latter. When we fight writing it is most likely that we are afraid of discovering something. And of course, this is exactly when we need to write the most. On the other hand, who wants to write when there's s'mores to be had

LMAO ..and a big ole YEAH THAT! lol

I've been taking my journal out onto the veranda along with a cuppa, and writing while the boys play in the yard. Sometimes just about the day, what's going on in the garden etc... sometimes something more profound. The other day I even drew a really cool pic (lucas had his colour pencils out with him and I just started doodling and went with it!

New book recommendation!

I have been reading a new book on guided journaling:
Writing and Being
Embracing your life through creative journaling.
by G Lynn Nelson

I got a cheap copy through Amazon.

It has really gotten me going with some of the prompts (suggestions)

There is a new writer's group I am starting up in early August, we will be doing the first few meetings on journaling, I love books on the subject, if anyone has any new ones, please post them. I am a writing book addict (well, an ANY book addict )

Joanna, yep your probably right. Need to make time tonight for me.

Cari, that sounds so lovely, sitting outside writing. Ahhhh. Love the doodles too!

BK, I'll certainly add that book to the beginning of our thread and see if I can get my hands on a copy. If feels like when I'm reading about writing I can't write enough but almost as soon as I stop reading, the writing slowly falls off.

I recently started journaling about a month ago and I love it. I don’t know much about journaling but I’m learning. I brought a sweet little recycled notepad so that I can be more prompt to do it by hand rather than by computer since I’m at one about 10 hours a day as it is. Writing on my lunch break and at night before bed are my favorite times.
