cheapest "safe" water bottles?

I've been looking and they seem to be all in the same price range, so I was hoping maybe someone here could help me out... What I'd *like* is a 32 oz.+ stainless steel water bottle for under $25, but I guess anything better than my Nalgene is better.. Has anyone found a better deal than me?

You can buy insulated sleeves for the stainless steel bottles to keep everything nice and cold. And I don't know about most of the neck sizes of the bottles but I can say the Sigg bottles are too narrow to add ice, but the Klean Kanteens have a wide neck to fit ice cubes.

Try the ThinkSport. It's an insulated stainless steel water bottle - 750 mL (about 25 oz) and is $20. When we tested it, it was 2nd best at keeping the water cold in a closed, hot car.

HTH!

Just posted this on another thread:
http://www.egeneralmedical.com/egene...nk-ribbon.html

The brand is New Wave Enviro and they generally retail for $10 (16 oz) they do have larger ones that are pretty inexpensive. The site about has them at like clearance prices. I just bought 8 of them.

Ecousable has 17oz bottles for $10. Much cheaper that KK or Siggs, imo.

We just found some OGGI ss bottles for $6.99 each (16 oz size) at Homegoods/TJMaxx.

Check this out:

Are you sure the OGGI's aren't aluminum?

Harvest Health has 1L New Wave Enviro stainless steel bottles on sale for $16.95 + shipping.

I got a couple people in my office together to buy the .6L ones. The shipping for 8 of them came out to $8.95

I think the Siggs are cute but wanted to stay away from any coating on our bottles. To make the .6L silver bottles cute, I ordered everyone in my family their own WaterWrapz from Ecousable.

The egeneralmedical site made me nervous because the description I saw on my screen looked like it was cut and pasted from three separate products. Great price though.

The ones I ordered from egeneralmedicine arrived. They're great, I'm very happy with the purchase. They actually sent me 10 bottles instead of the 8 I ordered. Not complaining. Happy Note: the sports tops from Ecousable fit on these bottles - how convenient! And I'm sure the wrapz do too (but I don't have any). The only negative thing I can say about these bottles is that they are really 14.5 oz bottles, not the 16oz they claim on the site. I'm okay with that since they're primarily for the kids though.

The best way to keep water cold all day is to have several bottles and keep them in an insulated container with a cold pack.

I use glass bottles that once held single servings of iced tea. Yeah, there's the shattering risk and glass isn't allowed in some places, but it's an intert material, no chance of anything leaching into the water, and they're cheap. I pay anywhere from $.75 to $1.33 per glass bottle of tea, lemonade, or fruit drink. My favorite is the Tazo.

Not sure if you have Fred Meyer's where you are but stainless steel bottles are on sale for like $8 this week.

I have seen the New Wave Enviro stainless steel bottles at Whole Foods. Don't know about prices, though.

I use glass bottles, too. I also really like the Tazo bottles! The shape of the bottle fits my hand perfectly and I always feel like it is secure. I walk around our community with it. I only buy a Tazo tea here and there and have paid $0.79 - 0.99 for each bottle. I also like another brand I cannot think of right now. It has a bumpy texture, which makes it easy to keep hold of, too. I only have one and it was originally white tea blueberry.

Anyway, I use my glass bottles for homemade tea and plain water and I take them everywhere. I keep a cooler in the trunk of one car, but have only used it for transporting groceries in the really warm months. The other day I was out running errands (all in the same area) and glass is definitely non-insulating on it's own! LOL I drank the hot water since I was very thirsty and the bottle had come directly from our dishwasher and the water from our RO system. If it had been a plastic bottle, I would have watered a plant before drinking it myself. I think I'll start using the cooler for our water, too! Thanks!

for mamas who use glass and need to keep your water cold - put it in the freezer the night before. when you go out, take one jar with cold water (to drink first) and one frozen (to drink second, as it melts). you should be good for the day!

Oh, my other bottle was originally an Inko's brand of tea for $0.79. It is also a really good shape for my hand and feels very secure.

Have you thought about a Thermos? My dd has a funtainer that she really likes. I've been impressed with it. We've been going to the playground and it sits in the sun and is still cold after a couple hours. We put ice in it and she often eats the ice on the way home.

Here are a couple that come close to your specifications...

1lt for $30 http://thermos.smartermall.com/product.asp?sku=1903498 (double wall stainless)

34oz for $10 (glass insulated) http://thermos.smartermall.com/product.asp?sku=2943938

1.1Qt for $27 (double wall stainless) http://thermos.smartermall.com/product.asp?sku=2943913
