Ophelia "Lea" Hope arrived by c-section May 28th at 6:58 pm.
She is 8'8 and 21 3/8 long.

I went into labor at home (HUGE VICTORY) on her own and water broke at home (YAY) - went to hospital tuesday early evening and labored for 24 hours with a posterior baby stuck on pubic bone. And yep - my water broke before big contractions started so Im in that club for sure!

We took a midwife with us to the hospital in the role of a doula who was AMAZING and helped us each step of the way. To be honest - I am completely devastated I had a c-section and part of me is still waiting to give birth - Im not sure what to do with that. I had a great labor with a ton of support from my husband and doula and the nurses. We did everything humanly possible to get the baby out and she was stuck. I had some complications during the section and had to be put out completely and I woke up alone in recovery confused (due to hospital policy) - I need to move through this and beyond this and enjoy my daughter.

Nursing is going terribly- tomorrow we go to the LC and see what we can do. We are very blessed to have some donor mamma's milk on hand.
However - I will always remember in the hospital she nursed for
2 separate periods of well over an hour and slept and it was the most amazing experience ever - it was beautiful!

Im not quite sure how to do this babymoon thing- my MIL is staying with us and our childcare provider comes from 8-4 everyday for our toddler.

Thanks all - I dont mean to be a bummer and Im standing in a new place with a beautiful little girl and emotionally Im not sure how to process the last week.

Congratulations on your little girl, and for the hard things, it's okay to take time to process everything.

I'm so sorry you're hurting emotionally. Give yourself some time, and be gentle. It's OK to grieve. I cannot believe you had to wake up alone.

Congratulations on your daughter! I cannot wait to see photos!

Congrats on your baby girl!!

I have stood where you are standing. Be gentle with yourself. It sounds like you birthed your baby the only way you could have at the time. I grieve for you too. It will get better. It sounds like you have lots of support- let them help you. Cuddle you new LO while someone takes care of the other for you. Everything will be OK.

Sorry to hear that things are tough. Don't be afraid to grieve for the birth you expected. Letting it out is the first step towards recovering, but it all takes time. I have been where you are more than once, and it is so so hard with the demands of a newborn too. When nursing improves, things will get easier.
Be kind to yourself and rest up as much as you can.

Congratulations Michelle! Welcome baby Ophelia!!

I'm sorry things turned out the way they did. I hope healing comes to you (emotionally as well as physically) soon. Let yourself feel it all.

Congratulations on your baby girl!! Allow yourself time to process your birth, I had a lot to work through myself and I know how hard it can be.

blessings mama!!! and congrats on little ophela!!! so sorry it went in a way you werent expecting, go through what you need to, cry and feel and be, this is what is real and most needed to make a clear healing. you can do it and you are a wonderful mama....sometime the nurseing takes bit of work, i can say for us it was a really hard in the begining but we got the hang of it and then it was smooth sailing from there, give yourself a brake and enjoy that new amazing baby girl!!!

Yay!

We went to LC today and a few things

We are back on!
Baby is on with a nipple shield and the lactaid. YAY! You have to understand - I had no nursing relationship with my 2 year (pumped around the clock for 7 months for droplets) now I can hold my baby and nurse her!

As an IGT mamma - I am grateful for any type of relationship at the breast.
When we weighed her at the LC - she got nothing with just me she pulled off completely, then with just shield - nothing, then with shield and the Lactaid -15 cc's donor milk and 7 cc's me! YAY!!!!

*does back flips*

LC said wait a few weeks and pull the shield - by then the fluids from the section should be gone and my nipples from working with them wont be as flat.

Also - Ophelia is tongue tied. We are taking her tomorrow to the pediatric ENT tomorrow for an evaluation.

Glad things are improving!!

My son was tongue tied, and we waited to have his tongue clipped until he was 2 because it didn't impair our nursing. However, since he was older it was a general anesthesia surgery (at this point it was impairing his language). The ENT told me that if we'd had it clipped as a newborn it would have been a simple in-office procedure. I'm glad you are getting it looked at, it was a pretty traumatic experience for a 2 year old.

I have many nursing issues and I am a BFAR mommy, I was wondering what IGT means?

This is my 2nd babe and things are going so much better, I have hope of providing 100% this time
