Green Cone/Solar Cone composter

Does anyone have this? http://www.peoplepoweredmachines.com...one/index.html

We're not really interested in generating compost for garden/yard use... we mostly want an enclosed system (we're in a wooded area with lots of animals) that can process kitchen waste (or main "garbage" these days).

That looks very similar to the one we use although ours doesn't have a basket. It's just a big plastic cone with a lid.

We've emptied ours once in the last 6 years. It was a pain because you have to take the plastic part off and you are left with the pile of compost. Since we were moving the bin it was easy to shovel up the top layer of uncomposted stuff and stick it back in the bin but the pile of compost collapsed and got everywhere.

Now we occasionally tilt the bin and take a couple of shovels full if we need compost but otherwise we leave it alone.

All vegetable peelings, apple cores etc go in, we usually put a load of grass clippings in when we mow the lawn and occasionally a layer of shredded paper (mostly to help keep fruit flys at bay). We don't compost anything cooked, even tea bags and coffee grounds for fear of attracting rats. So far so good.

That looks very interesting. I'd love to compost (to reduce waste and maybe do some veggie gardening), but I don't see myself turning a compost pile...
