i have sat down a few times to write this, but have always ended up being needed by my beautiful baby- but as i sit here, Ari is snuggled against my chest in his baby hawk!!
i went into labor on Thursday night- we were supposed to go out for dinner for my birthday, but thought better of it because my dh was super tired... i didn't really realize i was in labor until things had already gotten pretty intense... by the time i was sure, my ctx felt rather like getting hit in the stomach with a baseball about every 5 minutes(around 1:00)
we called the midwife and she told us not to come into the birth center until my ctx were four minutes apart, one minute long for one hour. it sounds logical enough, but the problem wass that, my labor was coming on so hard and fast that nothing ever lasted an hour and my ctx jumped for 5 minutes apart to 2 minutes apart in about half an hour!!!
we called my doula around 3 am and she said she was minutes away from getting in the car (she lives about an hour away)... an hour later, when she wasn't at our house yet, we called her and found out that she was having car trouble and had to turn back and use her husbands car!!
FINALLY we headed to the birth center, which is thankfully only about 10 minutes from our house.
our doula, midwife and dh and i all arrived at the birth center within about a minute of eachother at about 5:15 am.
when my m/w checked me upon arrival, she told me i was 8 cm ( i was terrified she was going to say that i was only four cm or something at a time when i was sure that things could not possibly get more intense) 10 minutes later i was in the tub and pushing through some completely mind blowing ctx
dh says it was a total estrogen fest
the entire birth team was made up of awesome encouraging women. but i have to say that my dh was amazing too, he was right by my side the whole time doing everything he could to calm me and encourage me. 
Ari John was born at 6:28 am weighing in at 9 pounds even and measuring 22 inches!!!
everything went perfectly and just as i had hoped! we were lounging at home by 2:30 in the afternoon! it was awesome... my entire family thinks i'm some kind of super hero
