How soon postpartum can I.......

How soon postpartum can I use a kegel exerciser? I have a gyneflex and am 4 weeks postpartum. I know this is a weird question but I am curious to know.

The dr said no intercourse for 6 weeks. Is that because nothing should be in the vagina for 6 weeks?

I have no idea what a kegel exerciser is, but the no sex for 6 weeks thing is another ridiculous invention of doctors. You can have sex as soon as you want to after giving birth.

I'm 4 months pp, and I'm just about at the point now where I feel my pelvic floor is coming back. Try it- but for me, at 4 weeks, everything was still very tender.

Yes, that is in an invention....actually one of my midwives knew an OB who was pretty old school. She told this story about when she asked him how long they had to wait until having sex, this is what he said:

"Stop when she starts pushing, then wait until after the placenta is birthed"

I have personally dtd 2 weeks post partum here (that is the soonest). Though, I didn't have tearing, I can imagine if you have a tear, or an episiotomy--so much worse I hear, that you may not be able to tolerate it for 6-10 weeks.

I don't see why a kegel exerciser (incidentally I have the same gyneflex) would be much different. I'd just remember to clean it as directed.
