How is everyone doing with their new little babes?

Things are going well here. I have been dealing with major breast engorgment! Freya is a little jaundiced and it's been a struggle to get her to nurse enough to get comfortable. She seems to be doing better today, but I still end up with hard, painful lumps. I don't want to pump too much, but have been pumping a little to take the edge off.

I got my staples out this morning, WooHoo! The recovery from this c-section has been a lot easier than the last one. I think it really helped that I was in real, spontaneous labor for a while before the c-section.

Hope everyone is adjusting and doing well!

Not pp but I wanted to say I'm glad you're feeling good... Hope the boobie issues work themselves out quickly!

Kiss those toes for me!

waving at Tara .....

things are settling down here.
Not as engorged anymore, since the boys are eating WAY better. Took them back for a weight check at 2 weeks, and they are both back up to their birth weights. Thomas is actually above his birthweight ... yay!
Neck pain is sporadic now, so I guess I'm getting the hang of nursing again. Bleeding is tapering off ... now just brown. (TMI!!) I have a UTI, however, : and am on antibiotics. I tried to stick it out without treatment, but it wasn't getting any better. Cords are off both babies, and they will get their first tub bath this week, when I can summon all the troops for help! Rachel (DD#1) spiked a temp a few days ago ... DH took her to the peds office, where they diagnosed her with Hand-Foot-Mouth disease! Argh!! Poor baby!!

hmmm .... what else. My friends have rallied around me more than I could possibly imagine, with daily visits, and FOOD for an army!! It's been awesome. My mother is supposed to come out one day this week, I think. My grandmother wants to come, but she has been sick. No words from DHs family about visiting. They'd rather us drag 4 kids out to see all of them. Maybe if I was nicer, they'd come here.

Swelling in feet/legs is GONE, and belly is looking less PG. My hips apparently are bigger than I recall .... as my pre-PG pants won't fit over my boot-ay! I'm going to get new tennis shoes in the next few days, so that I can start walking with my GFs.

Few tearful/stressed days .... I get upset when DD#2 runs to her father for everything ..... and it's a bit hairy when BOTH of the boys cry at the same time. I miss being able to 'pamper' one child at a time. I suppose that's going to be something I'll have to learn to deal with. DH says God gave me twins to become more patient ... we will see!!

How are our other PP mommas? There are a LOT more now!!

I got 2 straight four hour stretches of sleep last night, which is by far the most sleep I've gotten in a month. Interesting, since my baby is one month today... Can't imagine why I haven't been sleeping. We see the ped today and get another weight - I figure around 8 lbs and some. That means he's about 3 lbs heavier than when he was born, which kicks some major booty.

I also got the bill from the NICU. Thank heaven for insurance cause that sucker is $14,111. : I figured it out and determined that it cost $98/hr for his NICU stay. I am enormously thankful that they had the level 3 NICU there though cause otherwise he'd have ended up being transferred an hour away.

Dianna, I'm glad the twins are doing well!

mamaspirit, I'm glad you're recovery has been going well!

this was a major factor in my decision to stay with my OB. The hospital where I delivered also has a Level 3 NICU.

For comparison .... regular nursery was 2K, times 2 boys, total of 4K. I agree ... thankfully, we have insurance!!

When dd was in the NICU for two weeks, the total bill came to almost $65000!!! I almost died, but thankfully insurance covered it all since I had a primary and a secondary plan.

Glad to hear that all the babes are doing well!@

When I had ds#2 he was in the NICU for 10 days and I was in the hospital for 7 days. I almost died from a blood infection. We had an outstanding bill of 96,000$ and that was just the part that the insurance WOULDN'T pay! We talked about a lawsuit towards the hospital, and Wa La, the bill disapeared!

How are you mama's feeling now? I know there are more pp mama's now as we have had a shower of babies this week!

We're doing well. Saryn is working her baby voodoo on us, she has been such an angel! Engorgement has been brutal...for some reason my body always produces for twenty babies or more. So, pumping a little, trying to nurse a lot, ice packs, etc. This is the third day, and its just now subsiding a little. She only lost a few ounces, and has been nursing like crazy so I think she'll be plumping up soon. Big sister is in heaven too! I keep waiting for the storm to hit, but so far its been pretty smooth!
