How's your TO DO before baby list coming along?

Yep I will be 32wks tomorrow! It is kind of shocking! Just 4 more wks until I am "OKed" for the HB. CRAZY. I am doing great getting all the baby stuff ready but I really need to concentrate on some of the other things that I really NEED/WANT to do before the babe comes like...

***NEED***
1. Backup my Dad's computer. (THIS is a need! He died in Jan 2005 and the computer has EVERYTHING that he has written, plus tons of pictures from the last 7+yrs of his life on it. I should have done it already but some how it got missed with all the craziness. )
2. Hire a contractor to do work on my mom's Inlaw home which is also on our property. It needs some major TLC and I want to get it moving so I don't have to worry about it when the baby comes. Not to mention I feel bad that she has to live in a home with boxes showing everywhere since she had not even one closet in the whole house.
3. Hire people to do work on our home: Chimney, driveway, gutters
4. Power of Attorney in case of hospital emergency,

***WANT***
1. Finish my DD's 6mth-2.5yr album. I know if I don't do it before the next babe comes it will NEVER get done.
2. My wedding album . I have been married for 6yrs and still it is not done.
3. Sew/Knit baby items. Sew baby wipes, towel, my DD a play sling and finish knitting my DD her baby doll (she has already named it so I really NEED to get it done)
4. Random Birth/baby things: Post Birth frozen meals, Emergency Transfer Plan
5. A Fresh operating system/program install on my laptop.

What's everyone else's list look like?

Clean the house, in general. It's a mess, and we need a better system!
Get the fridge fixed It's leaky!
trade in our car 2 door coupe that we bought just before concieving our first. Carseat really doesn't fit in there well.
Intstall carseat first we need to get a new car!
Pay the midwife! She's getting our entire stimulus check, which we're expecting next month.

WANT
get some rugs our house has bare floors
buy a few more baby itemswe have everything we NEED, but there are still a few things I think would come in handy.

Hmmmm... This is my 3rd child so I really have nothing to do or get done. Thank goodness! I have everything the new baby will need and so far we are nice and settles in!

That's about it. I'd really like it if ds completely potty learns but that's not up to me We are getting close though! Only using diapers for overnight and going out of the house. I think we might start taking short trips with underwear on and see how it goes. I'll need to find that fold up potty chair I used with dd though.

Oh, and I'd like to shampoo the carpets.

Have contractors finish major work on house that affects safety and basic function (this is underway--they're actually here now--hopefully will be done in the next couple weeks)

Buy DH a new car (one that will fit two adults, a baby, and 2 big dogs), get rid of rapidly deteriorating old one

Have baby's furniture delivered, put together

sew baby's bedding and other misc. items (I'm picky and couldn't find anything I liked for a reasonable price in the stores, so I bought fabric...)

Finish various little painting and light construction jobs around the house

clean the house! (it's messy after all the remodeling)

WANT:
Decorate baby's room

Buy various new furniture items (e.g. new master bedroom set, foyer storage)

Hire contractors to make non-urgent repairs to house (it's an old house, lots to be done!)

Finish various knitting projects for baby, start sewing projects

I'm 32 weeks also, and I am almost done here are my last minute things to do.

Buy Car Seat

Get last few bits of home birthing supplies (towels, pool thermometer)

When pool gets here (on order) test it out, make sure everything works good.

Tile Floors - this is hubbies want, I am ok after baby, but he wants before baby.

Buy and install a carseat.

Finish the baby's closet. We totally redid the trim and doors in the entire room and need to install a closet organization system.

Buy a co-sleeper mattress wrap.

Get a baby first aid kit together before she comes home.

The list is actually longer, but this is the big stuff.

I am afraid to type out my list (and these are all needs), but here goes:

-drywall the upstairs (dh and his crew of suckers getting tattooed for free). At least to the point of having everything hung, taped, and sanded. Otherwise we have no where to put all the baby stuffs. Our bedroom is teeny tiny.

-Bring all baby stuff down from storage room. Sort through it, give away girlie stuff, wash everything we're keeping.

-install car seat base

-clean our bedroom so my mom doesn't feel the need to do it again like when DD was born

-deep clean the rest of the house

-cook/freeze some meals

-the list goes on and on

I guess in reality not too much...maybe a few hb supplies that I used with ds birth but that shouldn't take long.

Now as far as Want goes...

1. Finish the tile in the house
2. Finish the other flooring in the house
3. install all cabinets in the house
4. Finish installing the bathroom fixtures, including showers, bathtubs, toilets.
4. Buy some new furniture to fit in the new house.
5. Clean the new house and get occupancy permit.
6. install trim and countertops in the house.
7. Clean our existing house and GET IT SOLD!
8. Okay you get the drift we are tying to get a house finished and our current house sold. We are building it ourselves so ??? But if we don't, I can always have the baby here and we don't REALLY need much for that.

I'm in hiding from my to-do list. I did a whole lot in April and May, then went on vacation and put everything else on the list on hold until after the baby showers this month. But I'm going through this thing right now where I would really like to sell off everything we own, and so I'm having this anxiety about accumulating the crap that people are going to give us (I mean including the crap I asked for.) I don't know if this is pregnancy-induced but I guess I am just extra sensitive about consumer guilt at the moment? What if after we get all those presents we don't want them anymore??

But to answer the actual question, I need to just keep cleaning. That I can do. Cooking would also be productive but I have no definite plans for that yet.

I totally understand this! I'm trying to pare down and prepare for the new baby at the same time - very conflicting. Just remember, you can return stuff you don't want for store credit!

I have to keep amending my list because it keeps getting pushed back farhter and farther...I really have unrealistic ideas of how long it takes me to accomplish things.

Off the top of my head, though, here are a few things I still need to get done:

TO BUY:
-Birth pool and a few other birth supplies
-New carseats for DS1 and new babe
-A few misc. newborn things, like socks
-Breastmilk storage bottles

TO DO:
-Rearrange bedroom in case I decide I want birth pool in there
-Rearrange living room (same reason)
-Clean bathroom thoroughly
-Make and freeze meals for 2-3 weeks
-Sew a matching MT/diaper bag combo
-Sew OS diapers
-Sew more wipes
-Lanolize NB/sm wool (I might make this a labor project)
-Do one last purge of all the random unwanted junk in our house
-Make birth board

I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. There will be some last-minute stuff too, like a full-house clean, and buying snacks for during labor.

we have some "heavy lifting" to do in this house--another purge and no time in which to do it, plus my husband wants to finish his project before august which means that we really dont' have a lot of time for it at all!

Go grocery shopping and buying stuff to actually cook in my house. I have never cooked in this apartment and I have lived here for a year. Remember, I was the ultimate single girl before getting prego. LOL

Order the crib and dresser. DP was supposed to do this last month and has not done it all!I'm getting pissed and want to do it myself but I'm trying to let him be a father and take care of it. He's so busy talking about buying this kid a car at 16 that nothing else matters. whatever...

Decide on a middle name.

Decide if I'm going to stay in my apartment or move. This is dependent on how much my rent goes up next month.

Go get a massage or body scrub before the baby gets here.

Pack my hospital bag

Want
Pay my bills for at least two months so I can put my money in savings and extend my maternity leave

Remembe to close one of my checking accounts and open a new savings account

Talk to DP about how we'll handle maternity and paternity leave. I'll get paid for 6wks with a vaginally delivery and 8 with a C-section, I want to stay out of work for at least 10 weeks and need to know how if he'll help me stay out of work for an extra month by helping with bills.
