Delaney's 3 week Baby Well Check

Yesterday was her 3 week check up with the new Pediatrician. At 8 days old she was up to 8 pounds 2 ounces (birth weight was 8 pounds 4 ounces). Well yesterday she was up to 9 pounds 4 ounces! Woo Hoo! Also she grew an inch (birth length and at 8 days was 20 inches) and is measuring 21 inches.

This is really surprising because her brother and sister are on the small side. Gabrielle is 28 months and is only about 22-23 pounds.

As far as the Ped goes I am not sure if I like him or not. It was the last appointment of the day and he seemed rushed with us (but very nice and did ask if I had any questions or concerns). He wants us back in 3 weeks for a check and I did set an appointment with him, but I think I am going to change it to one of the other Peds. There are four there and I would like to meet them all before I make a decision on who we will see.

Yay for healthy growing babies!

I kind of feel the same way about our ped in Alaska. He's not rushed in the "I'm a doctor, I'm too busy to take my time" sense... it's more that he's just a really fast-paced personality, if that makes any sense. If we were in a different position, I'd probably consider changing. Not because I don't like him, but just to have someone who is a better match for my personality. BUT... he's great at working with patients in the Bush, and that is my #1 priority: having someone with both the diligence and flexibility to provide good medical care from a distance.

Blizzard, I'm laughing at the "picking dog hair" comment in your sig. I had a home water birth and I picked a dog hair off the baby before I even got out of the tub with him! This is what happens in a doggy household!

Kat, so glad your little one is growing well! I often wonder how accurate the measurement is when they are newborn. They don't like to stretch out much that soon out of the belly.
