my fave lives shows are them, Rush, and Ac/Dc.
I don't know if AC/DC qualifies as a favourite, but they are fun. Iron Maiden and Rush are my top two (of course, they're also my two favourite bands, in general, which probably contributes to that). I've seen them both in the last month.

:
I only ever flipped through a few of them, but I can see why that would happen.

I added them up while we were on our way to Maiden this last time:

Rush: 6 times
Maiden: 5 times (had tickets for the X-Factor tour, but they canceled)
AC/DC: 4 times (I'm pretty sure, but not positive - it might be 3)

DH has seen Maiden 4 times, and ds1 has seen them twice. They're both kind of shocked at how many bands I've seen, but it's not really that many - I'm just the oldest person in this house.

I love Iron Maiden!! I had heard that Bruce was no longer the frontman but I'm glad to hear that's not true. I only have one of their cd's, the rest of their albums I had as tapes and have long since given them away. When I was a teenager, I used to fall asleep listening to their "Live After Death" tape. Good times, good times!

I would have to say that in 1984, better than half their coverage in most issues was Iron Maiden.

And they had song lyrics!

Bruce left after Fear of the Dark. (They apparently did a big farewell thing with Simon Drake and Bruce was killed or beheaded or something by Eddie. I missed a lot of that, being an expectant mom with no money - and no internet, but I've heard about it a lot.) Maiden did two albums (X-Factor and Virtual XI) with their new singer, Blaze Bayley. Bruce and Adrian (Adrian had left prior to recording No Prayer for the Dying...90, maybe?) returned in...early '99, I think. Janick Gers, who replaced Adrian, stayed on, so they've been a 6 person lineup ever since. They've recorded three albums since then.

That makes sense. That was in the days of the World Slavery Tour, and the release of Powerslave. The current tour is a "middle years" tour, covering Number of the Beast to Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, plus Fear of the Dark, from a later album. To give you an idea how popular Powerslave still is - four of the songs being played on this tour are from that album, including Rime of the Ancient Mariner. That eats up a large chunk of the set.

okay, i know i'm a little late in the game here, but i just wanted to chime in as another maiden fan. i've never gotten to see them live, so i have to say that the best live show i've been to is motorhead! they're not kidding when they say "everything louder than everything else"!
