Talk me thru this

Yesterday, my 17 month old had two teeth break off. I was able to get him with a pedi-dentist today and he told me they broke off b/c of decay.
He'll need to undergo GA and we have the option of having the teeth pulled or having metal caps put on.

Does this sound right? The dentist also mentioned that he has two other teeth that need to be fixed.

I am trying to find another dentist because this one wasn't in my network. I'm also going to look through the info here to make sure this dosen't happen again. We don't do juice and fruit is the only "sugar" he gets. I night nurse and lately it's been 3-4x a night b/c he's had one cold after another. The dentist said that the decay is on the back of his teeth. And to be honest, since brushing ds teeth is such a struggle I rarely am able to get the brush back there.

Any ideas or tips?

I think that Mothering Magazine had an article about this. I hope this is quickly and easily resolved for you -- dental stuff is no fun.
