okay so I haven't posted much--I was new to the forums at the end of my pregnancy---but I did want to report that our little girl is finally here!
Savannah Marie was born June 1st at 8:29pm...(at 40w2d) she weighed 9lbs 12 oz and was 20 inches long!
I did it! We had a natural birth! it went really well. it was a lot harder than I thought, but SO worth it! I only pushed for 4 minutes and that was even holding back---I didn't tear at all! I feel just great!
with my son i had the hardest recovery---I am all for natural birth every time now! I know I'm preaching to the choir--but I am just so happy how things went. All my family thought I was crazy, blah blah I'm sure you can imagine---but even my mom after the birth said to me the next day---"I'm sold on natural birth"---if I had had an epidural like with my son---I would have DEFINATELY torn with an almost 10lb baby!
One thing that I didn't count on that I need to get over for next time---was that when we got to the hospital I was counting on only being monitored for a contraction or two every 30 min...when we were admitted---they made me be monitored at LEAST 20 minutes---and wanted 5 peaks of "happy baby" even though her heart rate was fine! ---This was a HUGE road block for me mentally---just being forced to be somewhere I wasn't choosing to be and in a horrible position to relax in....thankfully right after I booked it to the tub and was able to calm down again! ---I must have calmed down a LOT because I went from a 6 to a 10 in like 20 min. My mom told the MW I thought maybe i had an urge to push--and the MW made me get out---I was fully dialated! I pushed for 4 minutes and she was here! I can't beleive how fast it went! ----anyway---I'm glad that I found these forums..and though I didn't make it into the official May DDC in the end---all your posts really helped and kept me motivated! THANKS!
