spotting at wk 19

Have a friend who is spotting at 19 weeks gestation. Anyone know if that's a sign of something big? Don't know a whole lot more info, such as if she's cramping or not.

I just read that sometimes a yeast infection with an irritated cervix plus sex can cause spotting.

Is it by any chance, somewhat normal?

there are several things that could be going on and i dont think the info you have is enough to determine anything. she should really talk to her care provider if she has concerns, and if she starts bleeding heavy, like a period, she should be seen right away

She went to the ER an they did an ultrasound where they found a low lying placenta. Said the clot may have been from the placenta, and that it's too early to know if it will be placenta previa.

Guess they wait to find out more.
