What are you using to wash your clothes?

Right now I am using 2 parts soap flakes to 1 part washing soda and 1 part Borax. I use a 1/4 cup per load. It seems to be working well but I can not find reasonably priced soap flakes anywhere around here.

I just thought I would ask before I crack open another $12 box of soap flakes.

I'm using Country Save powder. I bought it for the dipes, but I think it works fine and have finished the last of my other detergent (which was a dipe no-no) and I'm doing Country Save for everything.

I did a mix of Borax, Washing Soda, Fells Naptha. Then I added a box of powdered Arm & Hammer detergent for a boost. (it wasn't getting everything as clean as I'd hoped) I have a huge bucket of it, and use very little per load. Can you just grind up your own soap to make flakes?

I did grate a bar of soap once in place of the soap flakes. It worked quiet well and since the soap was lavender scented so wash the detergent . Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to do a price comparison right away!

Soap nuts with a dash of baking soda and a tiny squirt of Dr.Bronner's

They come out clean and SOOOOOO soft!!!

For stains I like to use h2o2.

I don't buy soap flakes, I just grate soap using my regular cheese grater, on the small side. If you’ve let your bar of soap unwrapped for a while, it will actually grate into powder instead of small bits.

I buy Sunlight soap, it’s in the laundry aisle at the grocery store.

I only use 1 tbps per load of the mix (1 bar of soap, 1 c borax, 1 c washing soda)and everything is really clean. We have a HE front loader, I love it.

I use 7th generation free and clear and it works great for me. I hope it's ok for dipes too.

T-Wave Laundry Discs (last for close to 5 years & are soap free) and occasionally some Ecos for really dirty stuff & diapers, but even then just a drop or two. I have a DH & DD with VERY sensitive skin and detergents & soaps seem to irritate their skin.

I either make soap with the combo mentioned already (great tip on letting the soap sit out and 'dry' for a few days) or I use Sensi-clean. I've found that to be my fav choice.

I am jealous of all of you who make your own laundry soap! I hardly find time to do laundry, let alone, make soap. I use Biokleen Laundry Powder, not the ultimate or whatever. Started using it for dipes 5 years ago and have never stopped!

I also use 7th generation- sometimes Free and Clear, or sometimes one of the fragrances- those are natural fragrances that don't bother me the way synthetic fragrances do. When I used to use cheap commercial detergents, I HAD to use the free and clear or I'd get headaches while doing laundry.

I have to lug my stuff to a laundry room, which I hate, so I already procrastinate doing laundry. I use Country Save, Mrs Meyers Lavender (going to try the Baby Blossom soon), or if I'm too broke (dh works as a temp so sometimes we have no income for a bit) just plain purex. I know, evil stuff. I also got a small bottle of the newer Purex naturals just because I liked the scent. I'm sure its not completely natural but I looked at the ingredients and it doesnt look half bad. Oh well, like I said, I liked the scent, lol.

I use Charlie's Soap with some STPP added. I have extremely hard water and the STPP helps keep the clothing from coming out dingy.

ps. Yes, it is a phosphate, , but in my case I want clean clothes, so I am willing to use it.
