Update 06-05

38+4

Well last night sucked. Dp worked late and at around 6:30 I decided to bake brownies. I just started and my back started killing me and my bowels emptied. My backache continued all night, accompanied by light contractions 10-15 mins apart. I even went as far as calling my doula and best friend. Went to bed around ten and they stopped of course.
Prodromal labor sucks!

39 weeks today! And with any luck (ie I finish revising this stupid manuscript) I am DONE DONE DONE with work after tomorrow!

I bought myself a Vosges chocolate bar at the grocery store yesterday as a "yay I'm in labor" treat. Not that I'm anywhere close to being in labor, but it's something to look forward to...

I'm 40+4 today. Nothing new to report. If anything, I'm having fewer CX's and fewer BM's. Seeing my MW shortly - don't expect anything exciting, although I think the baby is higher than he/she was last week. Then we're off to our 6 year old's last day of kindergarten picnic, hopefully before the thunderstorm we're supposed to get arrives! I've always thought it'd be cool to labor during a thunderstorm. Guess today's not my day.

My mantra today: Babies come when they're ready. No one's eternally pregnant. Not even me.

37 + 5, absolutely nothing to report, except that I get more crabby and emotional every day.

morning everyone

I woke up this morning and decided I'm going to be positive
I really think the NaturalCalm is bringing my BP down, last night it was 136/79 and this morning 141/82 (its always higher when I first wake up), that still probably sounds high to you all but yesterday and the day before I was getting in the 150s/90s. So, I'm just focusing on staying positive today. Tomorrow's my MW apt so hopefully I can get that BP even lower!!
ANNNNDDD I just took it after an hour of being up, eating breakfast, etc. and it was.....

120/82! woot!

Now to just keep it that way....
My BP is still way up, 39+1. I got 150/101 yesterday... not so great, but this morning it was 130/89. I would like to see some numbers lower than 85, but at this point I'll take anything below 90.

I am officially ready to be done. I am sick of dealing with my BP and with DS punching my stomach.

The MW yesterday came and said that baby is in 0 station, and that she doesn't think I will make it to the full moon (it would be 41 weeks exactly) so I am hoping that it is in the next two weeks, if I can just get my BP to hold on that long.

Doing okay. So outta breath all the time. Very tired.

DH and I realized last night that all of the rest of our MW appts and the rest of his work schedule (neither of which can be rescheduled) conflict. I totally don't mind going to MW appts alone (although I haven't ever, DH has come to every one) but it'll be bit of a pain with DS solo. Luckily we don't do much except chat!

MAJORLY nesting. HAD to clean my bathroom before I went to bed last night (at 12:30), it was the weirdest thing. But I'm doing laundry and dang it, if the baby isn't going to be ready, at least *I* will be.

Keep wondering if today will be the day, but I think I'm kidding myself. DH says tomorrow is a great day to have a baby. Ha, yeah.

But I'm feeling pretty good today.

39+2. It's thursday...all my babies have been born on thursdays. i'm guessing this one is waiting until next thursday (i'm hoping not the one after that, or the one after that!).

had more cntx yesterday, tried some homeopathics to get it going...nada!
Had two sort of uncomfortable but short ctx last night. I panicked! not sure why but then I found myself telling the baby not to come yet and the ctx stopped. I'm trying to figure out why I am not ready and also why I am so nervous about this labor. I remember looking forward to labor with dc2 and it went well so I'm not sure what the hang up is this time. I'm going to try reading some Birthing from Within today. Hmmmm....

In other news a friend is supposed to come over today and help me clean floors. I look forward to sleeping in a sparkly clean house tonight

40 +1 I don't feel like this is the day. In fact, I don't know if I've had any cntx since yesterday evening, and I've been having them throughout the previous nights. This is an excellent mantra that I'm going to keep in mind.

I also feel a little like this... yesterday I was not pleasant to be around... I'm going to try MUCH harder today to be better.

36w3d?4? I've lost track since yesterday. I have serious neuronal gaps these days.

heartburn is stinking painful today. I've resorted to a gulp of chocolate milk, even though I'm supposed to avoid dairy. It's doing the job intermittently for now.

getting a few more insistent BH's which make me go, "hmmmm." But I've decided that the baby can come after the 26th. My DS1 (in Grade 1) is doing a Vaudeville show at school on the 25th, and he's so excited, I don't want to miss it. he was telling me some of his jokes and lines the other day and it's too cute. So I have a MW appt booked for the 26th, when I'll be 39+3, pondering a stretch and sweep to help things along, and there are some wicked speed bumps in their parking lot that I might drive over a couple of times.

Hope everyone else is well and/or managing to stay positive.

Back from my u/s - absolutely nothing to worry about. He's measuring 7 lbs. 13 oz. (give or take, of course) and my fluid levels are fine (18.8, I think she said?). So that is a bit bigger than 'average', but certainly nothing to worry about at this point. Phew. And he has super cute chubby cheekies and chubby thighs and a lot of hair.

So he's probably still going to be nice and big, but I can't imagine my midwives will have any problems letting me go on my own. I'll know for sure next week if they're going to give me grief about it.

Karen, have you tried a mag. supplement? NatureMama (from may DDC) told me about this stuff called NaturalCalm (or MamaCalm but I couldn't find that one, the only difference is extra folic acid in the mama one) that really helped her out with her BP, I've been on it 2 and a half days and I'm convinced thats whats helping my BP. I'm also on the brewer diet, plus taking alfalfa and drinking cornsilk tea.
Mine was getting up into 155/95 so I know how scary that is
I hope you can have your baby soon!! I'm only 37 weeks on Friday (well, based on my later EDD, my initial EDD is 6/19 which would put me at 38 weeks.....we aren't really sure which one is correct though because my wonky cycles from nursing so we stuck with 6/27), and its kinda scary to be worried about risking out if I don't have her soon! My entire pregnancy I've expected an "overdue" July baby, and now I'm pretty darn positive she'll be born in June if we can help it and that freaks me out a little!
Anyways, more to you! We can do this!

Hooray, mama moose! I can tell how frustrating this bp thing has been for you, despite all your best efforts. I hope it stays down from now on!

39 weeks 4 days and no signs of baby coming...

Every little twinge is kinda freaking me out though, especially gas pain and lately it hurts before I can pass a bm so I'm constantly in the bathroom looking for show or *something*

I just need her to wait until I've completed todays to-do list:
*Make bed
*Sort and put away clean clothes (basically unpack, I've been living out of totes since January)
*Gather up dirty laundry
*Go through trunk, and move it or leave note for Ken to move it
*Pack hospital bag!
*Finish up birth plan
*Stash *toys* in trunk and find a lock

Once I get this stuff done, we can shimmy slide the bed over and set up/sidecar the crib

37 weeks here!

Nothing going on besides being so tired! I think the weather is to blame. Rainy, gloomy. I got up at my usual 5am and by 8:30, I was ready to take a nap again. Just woke up, and hopefully now I'll be able to get some work done. There's stuff (books, toys, papers, magazines, clothes) everywhere!

I get to see my MW today.

I am 37 + 1 and I don't think labor is anywhere close yet, which is fine! I finish up with school stuff tomorrow (YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and then dd is going to be home with me full-time. I want a few days with her before baby comes. We have had almost 4 years (she turns 4 on 6/23) together and there is a part of me that wants to soak up a few more solo days with her.

I am itching to scrub every square inch of our house! I just bought some new toilet bowl cleaner with a pine scent and I am so excited to use it! I also want to wash all the bedding, shower curtains, etc. But, I am trying to finish up a few more research things before I totally succumb to nesting. The diaper service starts tomorrow!! I have to find my breast pads to put in the labor bag, etc.

Contractions are becoming more frequent (bh's only) but with no real pattern. I have a feeling that it is doing a lot of work though, just like with dd. Now that I am considered term I am upping my raspberry leaf tea intake to 3 cups a day.

Dh is starting to get into protector mode. He said he is starting to worry about labor and is getting worried about my health and the babies. I love him so much because he doesn't let that fear turn into demands for interventions, he is so on board with women being made to birth!

Overall, I am feeling great! Just wish I could sleep better, but that dream won't be realized for a loooooong time.

Jacqueline
