Not trying to hyjack-sorry!

I've been inspired to try to make my own diapers by all of your great photos and am going to start out w/recycled materials. I read a different thread somewhere on here how to "prep" recycled material to "strip"? them and make them more absorbent. BUT I can't find that thread anywhere- I tried to do a search too- Can someone please post a link to the thread, if you know which I am talking about? Or maybe start a new thread w/the how tos?

Thank you.And someday I hope to return to this thread and post pics- that is if I can make one AND figure out how to post links and pics.lol

Hi ladies

I just started making my own cloth diapers and I love the RRP pattern!

I read on a website somewhere that you can use old shower curtains sown between 2 layers of fabric to make the diapers waterproof - would this work?

I'd be concerned about the breathability of the dipe, and also the toxins in the plastic curtains - although since it wouldn't actually be touching dd's skin, I don't know if that would be an issue.

What about using an old unbrella sown in between fabric? Do you think that would work?

Some pics expire,so they can't be seen.

fairymom and bluedaisy-I would worry about breathability and toxins and leaking at the seam. But if you stripped (boiled) it really well,(not sure how this would not melt plastic-maybe cut first and keep from edges?)and made a liner or soaker-even sewn in under the extra absorbant material area just in the middle...it could be a good thing?I might try that myself!I've been thinking this but with felted wool. Also, you can post a pic!I know you can!I learned to post pics for this too
