Dental surgery- rant

So I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. I asked MIL and DH to help me out, seeing as I wasn't sure how bad off I'd be.
Ends up, I wasn't as bad off as I expected to be but I'm still kind of ticked. Apparently even going through a major surgery doesn't get me the "day off". I still had to do everything I would on a normal day, despite asking the other 2 "responsible adults" for help. :

Do you and I have the same MIL?? Mine has come to "help" after each of my babies were born. Apparently helping means holding the baby while I make dinner, clean up the dishes, etc.

Sorry you didn't get your day off! You should have just checked into a motel after you were done at the oral surgeons.

If the thought had occurred to me, I might have except that I had to have a "responsible adult" with me at all times anyway. The purpose of having a "responsible adult" with you after the surgery is supposedly (according to the post-op sheet I was given) to make sure that you don't return to work and that you remain in bed/resting. : Oh well, I'm taking today off (mostly). The only thing on my "to do" list today is supper, and I might even try to convince DH to do that. I've slept most of the day.
Think I'm going to go back to bed now again. Not sure why but I'm more wiped today than I was yesterday even.

You know, the thing that ticked me off the most, probably, is that I busted my butt the day before to make things go just a little more smoothly for them (MIL & DH) while I was out of commission and they couldn't even do the 3 or 4 things I asked of them. I had everything out to make supper on the counter by the stove. That was the one "big" thing (other than caring for my 12mo) that I asked. Instead, I ended up having to cook supper in a totally drugged state. :

Not OK mama!! Don't do it! They can survive without you, even if supper is late papa and his mom need to know you won't rescue them. I would have fed the kids bowls of cereal and went back to bed.

DH doesn't cook, which is the big reason MIL was here to help. I mean, he cooks some easy stuff (eggs, mostly) but otherwise nothing. Unfortunately, we recently found out DS1 is allergic to eggs, so we don't keep them in the house.
You're absolutely right, of course. I should have just went back to bed. I think DH was kind of ticked with his mom, too. He drained the pasta for me and cut up some of the veggies for me and sort of hovered around me in the kitchen (more annoying than helpful, if kind of sweet ). MIL just sat in the living room, watching TV and sighed when I asked her to cut up a pepper. :
Oh well, live and learn. If there's ever a next time for this sort of thing (I hope not but life is life), I'll just make sure everything's good to go for DH and my MIL can stay home. At least he did most of the things I asked of him, even though he was working (he works at home).
