That must be it, because I don't see how else it can be connected...LOL

My son was born last July. I told the ped no vax, no eye ointment and no Vit K injection. (my 2 older children have autism). He stated that he understood the reasoning for no Hep B vax and no antibiotic ointment, but didn't understand the Vit K for he had personally witnessed a child that suffered from the brain bleeding that couldhave been prevented by a Vit K shot.

I told him that with everything I researched, I could not find anything that indicates how the medical establishment decided on the standard dosage that was given to all newborns regardless of weight and health. K K is fat soluable and does not exit the body as quickly as some of the other vitamins. He told me that there was very little Vit K in breastmilk, unless I increased my dosage by taking a supplement or eating more foods w/ Vit K. I told him that was my plan, but if he could find out the exact amount of Vit K to administer to my 8lb newborn then I would consider the Vit K injection.

A couple days later as I was preparing to leave the hospital, I asked him about his research. He said researched it and could not find out how exactly the standard dosage came about and what the exact dosage per lb of weight would be so he assumed I would not do the injection. Plus, there was no way to get a smaller dose in an injection form.

About 6 mos later, a friend who shared the same doc approached him exactly w/ the same issues I had and they ended up giving her daughter 1/2 of the amount in the standard Vit K shot...so he must have done more research and found something.

Just wanted to share my experiences.

we did the shot for our first two, mainly because I hadn't done that much research on it but opted out of the eye goop and hep b shot. for the newbie, I have the oral drops and plan on doing those unless he comes too early and increases the chance of brain bleed.
