First VBAC for anyone?

It is for me, I'll probably be posting lots on the VBAC forum but just wondered if anyone here was in the same boat.

I'm not a VBAC but good luck! That's awesome you're going for it!

Thanks. I wouldn't even consider not trying for it. We had the "perfect" natural birth planned with my last pregnancy and then in the last few weeks, after finding out there were twins everything just fell apart. My water broke at 33wks., I was 6cm dialated when I got to the hospital, my DH was 7 hrs. away on a business trip, the babies were both transverse, and the next thing ya know.... I'd had a c/s. I am really looking forward to having that "perfect" birth!

I am going for a VBAC, too! I have read that statistically, a VBAC is even more likely for women who previously had twins via c/s. I guess twins just tend to complicate things, so just b/c you weren't able to have your twins vaginally doesn't mean that you aren't a good candidate for ever having a vaginal birth.

I will be HBAV...I had two vag births prior to me c section so there is no way I wouldn't do it!

This will be my first VBAC as well. Wishing luck to all you ladies!!! I hope we all get the births we want.

Im hoping for an HBAC too! I really feel like I got cheated last time. Like all of you I really want to experience birth as it should be.

My first VBAC here too. I got screwed out of it last time....lol

Hoping for an HBAC here too but I still need to discuss with mw as I don't know if she does them. If not then a natural VBAC in a hospital will do.

I was trying for a homebirth last time and the baby was in distress and I passed meconium when my water broke. We had to transfer to the hospital and I had a crash c/s. My son ended up in the NICU for no reason with interventions he did not need and I did not get to breastfeed right after birth. It was actually very traumatic for me. I am a nurse and I understood everything but I still could not find my voice.

Same here...we had a planned homebirth with a crash csection due to prolapsed umbilical cord. I was really lucky that while I was under, my midwife had a very strong voice as did my dh. My dd spent no time in the NICU even though she had a lot of miconieum (my midwife refused to disclose anything without my consent and I was under so...she rocks! I'm using her again!) And I also learned if you refuse to let them wash your baby, they don't want to touch her and leave her or him alone! It is the whole body fluids thing! I just kept putting it off saying I wanted to do it myself...then never did!

This will be my second baby, and I am hoping for a hospital VBAC. There is only one dr in my area who practices at a hospital over an hour away who will even attempt them. I feel like I know a lot more this time and will be hiring two doulas.

Hoping for our first VBAC as well. My first birth ended up in a c-section after pushing for three hours with no progress. It was twins so that threw the plans off a little bit as well. Both girls were trying to come out at the same time! I plan on using a doula this time around.

Hello ladies - yep, hoping for a VBAC this time (2nd pregnancy) - first one was breech (born 4/06) so didn't have much choice in the matter as it was a hospital birth and in my state they won't do vaginal birth for breech...it's great to see all of you and look forward to getting to know yas!
take care,
Lisa in Balto

I too had a c-section after attempting a home birth. I pushed for 4 hours, transported to hospital then fetal distress, meconium, etc. Anyhow, I was happy to have the full experience of laboring at home and felt greatful for a the healthy birth of my son, who was wisked right over to my husband and myself after being checked out for a couple minutes by the pediatrician, such a strong healthy boy. Anyhow, I'm doing a VBAC at the hospital with my midwife this time and am very excited for the whole process again. Our hospital is very supportive of midwifery, VBACS, you name it. And they have a brand new maternity unit, less than a year old. So, I'm feeling very positive about trying it out in the hospital as opposed to home.

Good luck to all of the VBAC/HBAC mamas out there!
