Anyone encapsulate their placenta?

Just wondering how it's going? Do you notice a difference?

I didn't encapsulate, I just ate a bunch raw, froze some for smoothies, and dried some with the intention of encapsulating, but I just ground it up in smoothies instead. I noticed a slight difference the days when I ate some.

I haven't yet, but might. I need to go pick it up from the hospital tomorrow in fact (whatever is left after they sent it to pathology). I think I'll freeze it and then see how I'm feeling.

I did, i dont know about a difference as i have been taking some every day, but i havent had any depression yet and i am healing well. I didnt even get any baby blues, and considering i have suffered from depresion my whole life that is pretty remarkable. Although i think Dh is permently scared from making them.

nak

did the smoothie thing as it was MUCH easier-- dh froze 2/3 of it and put the rest in the fridge. ate that the first week and have been on the freezer part since (ds is three weeks yesterday). i've got a few days' worth let.

weepiness of the first few days pp is gone, bleeding has stopped, uterus shrank down quickly (also due to rrl?). not sure how much is from the smoothies, but i'm glad i did it and will do it again i we have another lo.

I had mine encapsulated, but I'm saving it to use when I start going through menopause (it's high in progesterone, which is the hormone that drops with menopause). I have felt fine, no baby blues or ppd, bleeding has been nonexistent to light, etc. So I'm not feeling the need to use mine right now.

I was going to eat mine (it's in the freezer), but I haven't really felt like I need to (no baby blues or anything. just normal moodiness from lack of sleep or when I let my blood sugar dip too low). I am still saving it in case I feel like I need it later. This time is MUCH different from my last baby, though.

I just picked mine up from the hospital today. They showed it to me briefly in recovery, and it looked like a nice juicy steak. : Today it made me go for a second. I had to take a picture of it, then off it went to the freezer. I really don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I'm glad I have it here as an option I didn't have with DS.

I had mine encapsulated and was taking it but stopped b/c it's high in progesterone and my milk was super slow to come in and now I'm having supply issues. I read that the drop in progesterone after birth is key to lactogenesis, and while I have no idea if it makes a difference, I didn't want to chance it. I plan on resuming taking it once my supply issues are resolved.

I didn't encapsulate mine. I had my MW cut a big chunk of it off for a smoothie that I had my dh make pp day 1, then a friend cut off another chunk (awesome friend!!!), then I was able to do the rest by then, so I used scissors to cut up the rest. I put the chunks in an ice tray and froze them, then popped out one or 2 for a smoothie every day or every other day.

*Smoothie: TJ's Vananna Yogurt and lots of fresh fruit---I never tasted a thing!

I don't know how much it really helped. I still had SOME baby blues and hormonal moodiness, but I can only guess that it may have been much worse had I not ingested my placenta. Also, it is an AWESOME source of iron, so I didn't have to worry too much about that pp, which was nice since I had my fair share of bleeding.
