Short people can give birth too.
My general question: What does "short" have to do with "width"? I know short women who have had babies vaginally. I don't think it ever occurred to them that they couldn't do it.

I knew a lady about 4'8"-4'10" who had 18 or 20 babies (2 sets of twins). You reminded me of her. I thought for a minute you might be related to her but I see you're too young to be her granddaughter - great granddaughter maybe (she died of old age about 16 years ago)

My younger sister is 4'10 1/2" and about 95lbs. On top of that her husband is 6'5" or so. She gave birth to their first child at home almost two years ago after 9 hours of labor. She was a total rock star throughout her labor. The very definition of strong and healthy. She gave birth to a baby girl, 7lbs even and 19 3/4" long. So that sounds like a total myth to me, OP!

Too short? Tell that to my grandmother!

On a second thought, don't tell her that. She might have a heart attack if she learns that her 4'8" frame was not 'good enough' to give birth to three children at home, and totally unassisted at that.

The horror.

I do not agree with this. I don't think being smaller/shorter makes labor/birthing harder. I think it all has to do with positioning, positioning, positioning.

I think it means that the vaginal opening is a bit larger because he did not stitch it up as much as it was pre-birth.

Yep, your right. I'd assume something will be easier and lesser chance if a tear if things are bigger there, although I'm not sure I was happy they didn't put in enough stitches. I could have had it done after but figured I'd just leave it
