Ironic?

The other day I received a coupon in the mail for Toddler Formula - Specially designed for 9-24 months.
"GOOD START 2 DHA & ARA provides nutrition that can be difficult to get from an older baby’s diet that includes solid foods. Baby’s (solid-food) diet may not provide her with the daily nutrition requirements such as the calcium and iron older babies need. Calcium helps strengthen Baby’s bones and teeth, and iron promotes normal brain development. A 1-year-old needs twice as much calcium and 67% more iron than she did at birth. That’s why the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastmilk or iron-fortified infant formula as the best primary source of nutrition through Baby’s first year."

hmmm...

Why can't BFing 9-24 months be as well promoted as EFF? Kind of ironic IMO to see people use such nutritional supplements after a year and then insist that BFing should stop at 1 yr. At least they mention BFing...

nak...

They are inadvertantly endorsing breastfeeding by saying that their formula is insuffient nutrician for a toddler. Breastmilk changes to meet the needs of the child. Of course they would never say that though.

Exactly!

Made me think if I were nursing my toddler and someone said something, I should say "Well I'm not feeding him baby milk, I'm feeding him a supplement specifically designed to meet toddler nutritional needs"
